Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Praying, Alice. You and your mother are such beautiful examples of faithful women.

This morning, I am wondering if any of you who see this message might pray that my mother gets into a Catholic rehabilitation facility.

Absolutely, Alice! I have a final (hopefully) medical follow-up with Ian today so will have extra quiet time (while driving and waiting) to hold your petitions in prayer. Hope and peace to you .

Love,

Yes, it sounds like a wonderful option. (One I never knew about.) Thank you for sharing your mother's strong faith here and on your blog. It has been so inspirational.

Your family, especially your mom, continue to be in my prayers.

As usual, the 4Real miracle prayer board was working overtime.

Yesterday, we had hopes of a specific Catholic facility taking her, but my mother couldn't get approval over a paperwork glitch (she's fully insured, so it doesn't make a lot of sense, but they needed something in writing from her insurance company, and red tape was holding up the approval).

Then this morning, a second Catholic facility called to say they had a bed for her. I was hoping she would get into the first one, but saw this as a good second choice option. All morning, I was so frustrated, because the first facility was dragging its feet. Finally, at 11 am, we accepted the offer in the second facility, realizing we were better off with a definite yes than a maybe. I was feeling pretty disappointed over the whole thing, but glad she would at least be in one of the Catholic places.

Two of my children have terrible stomach viruses, and I ran out to the store to buy Pedialyte. When I returned, the babysitter said my cousin had called twice while I was out. Before I could even return her call, she called a third time. She was desperate to tell me that I should choose the *second facility,* not the first one. It turns out--and I did not know this--she works in the second facility as a nurse!!! (I thought she worked at the nearby hospital, but did not know she spends the vast majority of her time at the nursing and rehab.) Now one of my mother's favorite nieces (and the godmother of my oldest child) can be with her everyday!!!! Also, the facility has completely rolled out the red carpet for her, because she is the beloved aunt of the most lovely nurse in the whole place. (Yes, I'm biased, but it is true--my cousin is something else again.)

I can't believe I was trying to get my mother into the other place, when this one is so very, very perfect. Tonight for the first time since the stroke, my mother called me on the phone. (Needless to say, with stomach viruses going through the family, I didn't visit her today.) She can't do it herself, but my cousin was with her, and it was so nice for the children to say hi to grandma.

Anyway, your prayers were heard, leading to the first good news on this front in a month, and I'm deeply grateful.

By the way, my cousin wanted me to know what section my mom is in. You won't be overly surprised to find out it is "Guadalupe."

I always consider miracles like this to be love notes that God writes to His children. God is SO good. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story of His mercy.

You and your family will remain in our prayers.

Alice, what wonderful news! Your mother and the rest of you continue in our prayers. God is so good to place her in the hands of someone that you know, love and trust -- especially when you can't be as close!

It seems Alice's mother has taken a turn for the worse tonight.

I'm sure Alice would be greatly comforted knowing of your prayers.
