Hi there, we have done Faith and Life 1-4 here and I have never had a teachers Manual before and we made it just fine! The activities in the workbook are pretty simple and as far as teaching it, I just read the chapter aloud and we discussed it and went over the questions all from the Student Text then we did a workbook page a day (4days a week) and I never missed the TM. I got it in 3rd grade. I am learning along with my kids and I had questions during our reading of some chapters--and needed some answers to some questions in the activity book.
I don't use it a lot but try to read through it to educate myself and find neat ideas for projects and discussions.

I had not used the manuals before but decided to get the 5th grade one this year and I am really enjoying it.
There is so much good information that I am thinking of getting the third grade manual too.
