Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm sorry if this has been on the boards, but I can't find it through the search.

I was wondering if there is a list out there so my very stretched budget can plan accordingly.

Thanks.

I was wondering that as well. It would nice to be able to start looking for the books at thrift stores, used book stores, etc and hopefully get a head start on the list before Advent begins.

Yes please, I keep eyeing books everywhere I go thinking they might by in the Christmas Mosaic, not that I need any excuses to by books in general .

Ladies,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Things here are crazy-busy-busy-crazy.
I have spoken with Margot at Hillside and we are considering listing the featured booklist here.

We won't be sharing the whole Christmas list which will be in the book. It took me months to compile.

We are also looking into some sort of book package...either one book per week's theme or one book per topic theme. Just to help everyone get started on their mosiac art.

Release date? We're predicting the second week of October. Tentatively the Feast of the Holy Rosary on October 7th. Again, this is tentative.

I will post the featured booklist perhaps later tonight or tomorrow. Like I said, it's crazy-busy here.

Thanks for asking, ladies, and, again, I'm sorry for my tardiness.

Things are crazy busy here, too! I hope we can meet the October 7 deadline!!! Please pray that all/any the obstacles can be overcome. The gal who does our layout is expecting 2 children from Guatemala (to add to the 6 she adopted from Russia) and is just a little overwhelmed right now.

Here is the list of books that will be offered as the package deal:
Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey
The First Christmas Stocking
An Orange for Frankie
Christmas Donkey (this is an OOP title and the books will be "used")
Father and Son, A Nativity Story

Thanks for your support and prayers
Margot

Who is the author of "Christmas Donkey"? I saw a couple different books with that title on Amazon.

The author for "Christmas Donkey" is Gillian McClure.

Also, books suitable for Pre-K will be marked as such at the request of many who used Catholic Mosaic.

The "Cobweb" books mentioned in week one are "entangled" (pun intended ) into one unit.

If I think of any more side notes, I'll mention them here.

ADVENT WEEK ONE
Advent/ Decoration/ Preparation Stories
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski/ P.J. Lynch
Cobweb Christmas by Shirley Como/ Jane Manning
The Christmas Cobwebs by Odds Bodkin/ Terry Widener
The Cobweb Curtain by Jenny Koralek/ Pauline Baynes

ADVENT WEEK TWO
Giving
The Shoemaker’s Dream by Masahiro Kasuya/ Mildred Schell
A Small Miracle by Peter Collington
The Christmas Candle by Richard Paul Evans/ Jacob Collins
Why the Chimes Rang by Raymond MacDonald Alden
The First Christmas Stocking by Elizabeth Winthrop/ Bagram Ibatoulline
The Bears’ Christmas Surprise by Bruno Hachler/ Angela Kehlenbeck
The Christmas Coat by Clyde Robert Bulla/ Sylvie Wickstrom (OOP)

Santa Claus/St. Nicholas
Santa’s Favorite Story by Hisako Aoki/ Ivan Gantschev

ADVENT WEEK THREE

Family
An Orange for Frankie by Patricia Polacco
Silent Night by Will Moses
The Twenty-Four Days before Christmas by Madeleine L’Engle/ Joe DeVelasco
The Christmas Promise by Susan Bartoletti/ David Christiana (OOP)

The Christmas Bird by Bernadette Watts (OOP)
The Christmas Donkey by Gillian McClure (OOP)
Mortimer’s Christmas Manger by Karma Wilson/ Jan Chapman

Epiphany
Danny and the Kings by Susan Cooper/ Jos. A. Smith (OOP)

Angels
Bright Christmas: An Angel Remembers by Andrew Clements/ Kate Kiesler

Older Children (Preteens and Teens) and Family Read Alouds

A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote/ Beth Peck
The Trees Kneel at Christmas by Maud Hart Lovelace
The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry

Christmas Around the World
Waiting for Christmas by Kathleen Long Bostrom/ Alexi Natchev (Germany)

[Edited to add: Remember, this list is only of the "featured books". There are many other worthwhile books mentioned in the complete Christmas booklist which will be in the book. We just couldn't feature every great book out there. The book is your springboard. I encourage you to explore the other books found in the list.]

We have a lovely baklava recipe to go with this book contributed by Paula from MN.

We are still in need of recipes!!! Please consider contributing your favorite Christmas cookie recipe! It would be so nice to have a large section of "real" recipes from the people who use them. And so fun for everyone to see recipes from the people they know.

You can PM me for the details or check out the Hillside blog.

Thanks!

Last call for recipes!! We'd like to include contributions from people on their favorite Christmas recipes. This can be something you do traditionally with your family or part of your regional/ethnic heritage. After this weekend, I can't add anything else to the text, so now is your last chance!!

Please PM me or check out the
blog.

Cay and Margo,

I can't express in words how much all of your work means to me, my family and many, many others. I just started using Catholic Mosaic and Fensrtae Fidei a few months ago, and it has brought pure joy and excitment to our family in learning more about our faith.

I am so looking forward to this holiday season with CM and FF!

All these "extra" things you do are noted and appreciated!

Thank you! Thank you! And God bless!

I found that a good place to find the OOP Catholic Mosaic and FIAR books was from the Go Fetch Books (something really close to that). They will bring up prices from about 20 different stores-Amazon, Abe, Alibris, and others plus foreign sites. I just snagged a copy of the Twelve Apostles and Cowboy Charlie by looking up the sight.

Hope this helps.

I see a note at the bottom saying there 80 units in stock. Is there a chance it could sell out if I don't get my pre-order in? I'm waiting to see if I want to order the books too and I'll be adding some other Hillside items to my order.

Still working that out!!
Thanks for your enthusiasm ladies. Don't worry about the stock counter on the website. (I'd like to get rid of that altogether. Many of the items say zero when I have plenty. I'm still figuring out all the bells and whistles of our new website. I like things simple and would rather not have bells and whistles. ) The preorder price is good until December 31, 2007, so there is no rush

I do feel kind of funny posting here when I'm selling things, though, (I don't want you all to think I'm taking advantage of the captive audience) so please do check the website around the end of October. I should have it put together by then.

Thanks Margot, I've been checking your website but I assumed others had the same questions as me so I thought I'd ask here rather than have you respond to all of our private e-mails. I see what you mean though about posting here.

Thanks for explaining it all.
