Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello!

I am looking for biography-type books on Mother Teresa, for reading by a 13 yo, during her Confirmation saint preparation.

(I already asked Jenn, my go-to girl , and she said I needed to ask you!)

Thanks!

How about "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta" from Pauline Books and Media. I have not read that one yet, but the others in this series (Encounter the Saints) have been really good. It is a small chapter book and reasonably priced as well. ($5.95)

God bless,

I would second the Encounter the Saints book. We haven't read that one yet, but the others in that series that we've read are very nice. Now, it's not a very long book. Easily read in a half day. It has a few black and white illustrations in it and prayer to Mother Teresa in the back.

Not sure about reading for a 13 yr old but the brand new book on Mother Teresa's spiritual writings will come out Sept. 4, 2007:

Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light

There seems to be some controversy over her writings to her spiritual director. She didn't want these writing published but, rather, burned after her death. They weren't burned but have now become a book. Seems she underwent a very lengthy "dark night of the soul" but I personally think it will make her much more accessible and "real" to people.

And what can be more "real" than the saint's own words:

Mother Teresa: In My Own Words

I have this one for my daughters and we like it a lot:
Mother Teresa by Elaine Murray Stone

I knew I had another book on Mother Teresa for young children. I had to dig through my bookshelves to find it in time for tomorrow. I love this one:
The Young Life of Mother Teresa of Calcutta

A 61 page book complete with sketched biography, chronology, peace prayer, quotes, "Anyway" quote on children's home wall, list of awards, glossary, and map.

They have some used copies for purchase. It is published by Little Sparrow Press and their contact info is found
here.

Fuzzy,

I'm interviewing Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle today about Mother Teresa. She has a new book coming out early next year called "Unlikely Saints". It is a biography of Bl. Teresa.

Cay, I knew you would find it!

Nissa, that sounds wonderful! Thanks for the tip!

I appreciate all your help, and I have let my friend know for her DD.

Thanks again!
