Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a craft idea to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Monica? I know I'm a little late on this, but I'm hoping to do something special with my children. I have such a love for her. I've called for her intervention many, many times.

Had to post this....my daughter just came up to me with a piece of paper she cut out and colored green. She said, "Mommy, guess what this is." I said, "A tree." She said, "No, it's ivy. Which reminds me of St. Monica because she had Hope." Cora learned of St. Monica in Little Flowers Girls Club last year. Ivy is a symbol of Hope because it keeps growing.

How's that for a craft!!! She doesn't even know I'm racking my brain to find one. I should of just asked her.

Maggie just posted her craft for week five of the "Craft-a-Week" and it's a St. Monica themed craft.

I posted this in the September idea thread because I knew we wouldn't get to it today (sorry to all our dear saints whose feast days fall on a Monday this year). One year we went to a friends house and made simple sugar cookies shaped like crosses. We frosted them all white except for one which was red. This one represented the True Cross. Then we hid them and let the children go on a "hunt for the True Cross" like St. Monica. Whoever found it got a special prize and everyone got to eat the cookies.

If there is no time to make cookies, you could do the same with paper for a fun little treasure hunt.
