Ok, for some reason I remembered this thread (wow I had no idea it had been started two years ago!) and I've been reading Eloise Wilkin Stories
to my son and every page is beautiful and I think wow those Montessori Ladies would love this -- the pictures are realistic and beautifully and thoughtfully portrayed.
Anyway I thought I'd chime in on this if anyone goes through this thread again.

Ditto! That book is such a sweet compilation. We Help Mommy is one of my toddlers' absolute favorites right now; they love to pretend they're "Martha" and "Bobby" and help me around the house. I think it ties into Montessori ideals very nicely.

We love the Jim Arnosky and Alfie books too (just read about Alfie's pipe burst in An Evening at Alfie's). Another favorite here is The Lot at the End of My Block for younger preschool children. It's a take-off on "The house that Jack built" for a modern apartment building, ending with a new friend moving in. Bright colors and repetetive text  and my 3yo seeks it out.
Also--the My First Little House series is a favorite around here.

Wow -- I've been wanting to share this book title with someone, so I think it'll fit here!
The books is Island Boy, by Barbara Cooney. It's a family generational story (complete with a homeschooling Mom) set in Maine.

I know this an old thread, but I decided to pull some books by authors and titles during our summer binge reading (I tend to use the library more in the summer!).
Anway, the kids just loved Alfie, and are requesting more. The Thomas Locker books are just stunning. I overheard my boys playing the boy with his finger in the dike later.
Miss Rumphius we fell in love earlier this spring.
Lyon and Nikola-Lisa are to be read tonight. Thanks for the recommendations.

We've enjoyed Kate Shelley and the Midnight Express by Margaret Wetterer. It's another "girl saves the day," but, in this case, it's "girl saves a train load of people." Best part is that it's true!
