I am asking for prayers for a dear family, good friends of ours. They have 5 children and the wife (Melinda) has recently discovered she has a deteriorating grade 4 mitral value problem. Surgery has been scheduled quickly as the left side of her heart is starting to enlarge. They see it as a providential sign that she will be operated on, on the feast of the Carmelite Martrys on the 17th of July.
Melinda is a very slight, slim girl and has never looked strong, this is open heart surgery and they are desparately hoping that it can be repaired rather than replaced (plastic valve) for they will be able to have more children if the valve is repaired, not so if the valve is replaced in this way.
They are also asking for prayers for the speedy return of $50,000 owing to them by someone that has emerging money troubles and they are now very fearful.
They have their plate full with these enormous concerns and I know how powerful the prayers of you all are!!
Thank you in advance and I will keep you posted with the surgery, Melinda goes into hospital on the feast of Our Lady of Mt Carmel and is operated on the next day.

Dear Anne,
Melinda and Peter will be in our prayers ,rosaries and Masses. Will will especially be praying to Our lady of Mount Carmel and Sister Lucy (Sister Lucia Mary of St Teresa) who is a carmelite sister from our local monastry who recently died in Sydney, in a very holy way. She may be a very good intercessor too.
May God give them strength and peace during this very difficult time.

We have just received this message from Peter this morning!!
"Melinda's operation was a success. They were able to repair the mitral valve. She therefore doesn't need to be on warfarin etc. The repair should be good for the rest of her life, all things being equal.
Thankyou for your prayers and support during this time."
This is a tremendous outcome for them, thank you SO much for your prayers!
