June 15 is the Feast of the Sacred Heart, and I'm wondering how you celebrate this day? We have purchased 1/2-price Valentine (heart-shape) plates, etc. in February every year in anticipation of celebrating this feast day, and we have a heart-shaped cake; but I'm wondering what craft and prayer ideas you may be willing to share. Thanks!
Blessings,
Ginny

We stick to a heart shaped theme, with heart shaped sandwiches, muffins, and cupcakes. Years ago, I made sacred heart cupcakes--they were heart shaped with lemon, orange and strawberry curd from the store (pink strawberry for the outside, orange and yellow for the flame) and broken pretzels for the thorns.
For the craft that year, I gave the children heart shaped garden stakes to paint with holy cards of the Sacred or Immaculate Hearts to glue on and decorate. Each child at the party was able to bring these home to put in front of the house for the feast.
When my husband came home from work and saw all the heart shaped items, he said, "You certainly know how to stick to a theme!" LOL!

We make sugar cookies with heart cutters and somewhere, in one of CHC's books, there is a little Sacred Heart Play. Maybe second grade lesson plans? (I hope it's not a violation of their copyright, but I made enough copies of it for each reader to have one to read their parts from. I can find the copies but not which book it came from.)

For the past three years we have renewed our Family Consecration to the Sacred Heart. Here is a link on how to prepare for it.
You could also read about St. Margaret Mary's apparitions/promises.

I was wondering the same thing. What to do for The Sacred Heart of Jesus's feast day, we want it to be very special.
I had already decided to have a heart theme but was unsure about how to add colour and flames to any cookies or patty cakes I wanted to make. Thank you for your idea Alice.
I am unsure what curd is though. We might have something similiar here like tubes of icing from the supermarket, that may work. I'll have to have a look around for ideas, as I'm no artist, I may have to stick a picture of flames on my cakes .
Thanks Betsy for your link to the Sacred Heart Consecration renewal.
What a big week for feast days.
God Bless

We're going to be painting and decorating a Sacred Heart/Immaculate Heart mobile.

Your mobile craft sparked an idea for me! I got out some old heart-shaped foam picture frames that we had left over, and my boys glued a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the back with a piece of cardboard and a string hanger. Then they decorated the front with leftover Valentine's self-sticking foam hearts. They turned out very cute!
We also made bookmarks for the Feast of the Immaculate Heart. I had them glue a picture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the front, decorate below it with hearts, and then gave them a short prayer to the Immaculate Heart to glue onto the back. (Sticker paper would have been a bit cleaner than liquid glue, especially since we used cardstock for the bookmarks, not foam.)
Thanks for sharing, everyone! Hope you had great feast days!
Blessings,
Ginny
