Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Right, Willa.

Whereas, I COULD hand over Immaculee Ilibigiza's book Left to Tell (The Rwandan Holocaust)---even with the horror of it all, it still is told in a way that focuses so much more on the spiritual--- that I wanted them to read the actual words in the book. It profoundly moved my 18 year old.

Nina,
You're most welcome.

If you want to see Matthew on TV - I just heard on the radio this evening that he is supposed to appear on Life on the Rock on EWTN tonight (Feb 1) -- at 8pm -- (oh, that's NOW).. and I think they replay it at 11pm as well. (All that's Eastern time, btw)

I think they archive the programs (audio and video) so you could download them if you miss them.

Here are the show archives. (I have not tried them yet to see how this works, btw.)

Gotta run and turn on my TV's recorder

Erica

ETA: Looks like the EWTN archives are posted a few days after the show airs... so you'll need to wait until next week to download it if you missed it today.

Erica,
Thank you. I saw your message and caught the tail-end of the show. Matthew is a very good speaker. I really like what he had to say. Wish I had written some of the things down.

Another vote for Matthew Kelly. He was at our parish last year (when we were still in PA) and we heard him speak. Very dynamic and engaging speaker -- my 14-yo loved listening to/watching him and has been asking when she could see him again. Thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to get a couple of his books for my teen here and her friends.

Cay - Matthew's books read very much as if Matthew is speaking to you - and I would guess that you will find the things you liked about the discussion on EWTN in his books as well. Amazon and even my library have many of them. (The audiobooks are read by the author - so in that case Matthew really IS speaking to you )

Erica,
I caught the rest of his talk late last night. I encourage eveeryone to view it if they get a chance.

I also dug up the book "Swimming" from under my dh's pile of religious books on Christian fathering(bought by me ) and his Tom Clancey novels (bought by him ).

I read almost the whole thing in one night.
Excellent! I'll have to press my dh for more of his thoughts on it. I loved it!
