Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm revisiting this thread.
I want to make my pantry all organic and homegrown.

It's really a mindset between my pantry and me.

Am I expecting too much of myself?

Wow, Jodie, WHAT A LIST!

LOL, Cay, I don't have a pantry list -- THAT would expecting too much of myself.

Cay, I am right there with you! I just went hog-wild shopping for all kinds of staples the other weekend and I still have many things sitting out on the counter.

I have this list I've been working on - all the things that fall under homekeeping duties, and I literally have this written down:

"Maintain a pantry - organized, organic, homegrown."

The kind with gingham-topped jars and lined shelves. Tomatoes from our garden and bins of organic flour. And in the fall, baskets of keepers like potatoes, onions and squash ...

It might be the Yankee in me, but a well-stocked pantry sounds so lovely to me. My grandparents always had one in their basement and it was such a source of pride and comfort!

Thanks for reviving this thread, Cay - I missed it the first time around, and Jodie - GREAT LIST! I just printed it out!

Sometimes the ironic way we read one another before we actually "read" one another on these lists and blogs just totally me out.

It's almost creepy...

This is exactly what I'm talking about, Dawn. I knew someone would.

I've begun a full-fledged kitchen/pantry notebook (just looking for a pretty cover)...no fudging around anymore on this. But I want the real life scene to radiate what is on paper.

We are fixing to grow a patio container herb garden and everything has to be "usable" in the kitchen.

well the nice thing about having it all in my garage is that it doesn't have to look pretty just be functional. I should find the [icture I took of my spice cupboard.. buy in bulk and satore in canning jars.

My sister is moving up here and my dh and his brother are putting in for elk tags so I'm hoping to get something for my pantry/freezer this year.

I've just gotten strawberries on sale.. $1.22/pound which is really good here.. cheapest I ever see it $1/lb. So I need to find time asap and make jam

Bumping this as it was just linked to.. by whom, I suddenly can't remember! Sorry. I also wanted to share a file i created. Its Jodie's list, put into excel and just slightly formatted. I've added a couple things but not much. I'll have to edit for my own use. But this way so can everyone else. You all probably already have something like this, but I really need to get my pantry under control, and using excel makes it permanent and edit-able.. :)

But now i realize I don't know how to attach a file. Help? :)

A moderator can upload a file for you if you email the file to one of us.   Or alternately - if you have a hosting site (like Scribd) then you can upload it there and link it here.

Happy to help. This is Amanda's pantry file in Excel format:

Wow, is this helpful. I have shelving downstairs in my basement which someone before us obviously used for storing home-canned goods. One of my goals for the summer is to reorganize my kitchen shelves, mostly because we're about to experience an avalanche of dishes and glassware from my mother's house as she prepares to move, but also because I'm gradually, gradually trying to up our shopping efficiency and our reliance on what we already have on hand.

So thank you for bumping, Amanda!

Sally
