Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Fr. Z's translation just plain makes sense. I read and re-read the other translation yesterday and couldn't figure out what it meant...

It does.

And I also love the way he puts the referenced verse from First Corinthians right into the text so we can see just how clear the matter should be. Bravo Fr. Z.

It'd be cool to get him for a 4Real conference. He could call the talk, "What does the Prayer Say 4Real?"

This is an interesting thread and really has me thinking more and more about the place of Latin in our home. I think I need to take latin right along with my kids.

Prima Latina...here we come!

Not to beat a dead horse (too badly, anyway), but Fr. Z., whose site has gone to minimal mode again, gives us the literal translation of paragraph 62.

English-speaking countries are being robbed...

Oh I am so frustrated....I can't get the site to pull up at all, and I really want to be able to read it!!!! It does break my heart that we seem to get such bad translations of important messages, which *some* of our Bishops then have a field day with.

Musica Sacra announced that the translation is revised, so now it more accurately reflects the Latin translation.

That means I'll need to print out a new copy...fiddledeedee.
