thinking about Christmas for my niece, and she loves books. She is just turned one. I would like to get her some lovely, pretty, books - any suggestions?

This would be perfect, IMHO:
B is for Bethlehem.
Amazon sells it in a board book also, but this site has it cheaper and click on "Additional Views" to look at the glorious illustrations!

We have the Jan Brett books The Mitten and The Hat in a board book. They are lovely.

I noticed on this thread that The Napping House and Silly Sally come in a board book. Can anyone tell me if the board books are complete or if they are edited at all?

Gosh, I love the Bethlehem book - but they aren't Catholic, and my BIL isn't Christen, so I am not sure how it would be received.
Jan Brett is probably perfect, though.
Thank you all so much for your suggestions!

I don't know if The Napping House boardbook is abridged, but we only had the board book and my kids LOVED it. Another favorite is Goodnight Gorilla, Peek-A-Who?, and I Howl, I Growl (Lydia's current absolute favorite that I read a hundred and fifty times a day, complete with growling).
I will come back and add links, but we're headed out to the park because it's only supposed to hit 100 today and I'm completely stir crazy (we won't even talk about my kids)

We like "Guess how much I love you" by Sam McBratney and "I love you as much..." by Laura Melmed. Soothing, sweet books for the little ones.
