Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought it would be nice to have a bunch of seasonal titles in one thread, especially since fall is one that seems to lend itself to great picture books. We put our some seasonal things today and the book basket. The kids were thrilled to visit their old favorites. Here are some of ours:

Pumpkin Moonshine
Christopher's Harvest Time
Woody, Hazel and Little Pip
Around the Year
A Time to Keep
Flower Fairies of the Autumn
How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World
T is for Touchdown: A Football Alphabet
P is for Pilgrim: A Thanksgiving Alphabet
Dappled Apples
Fall: A Tale of What's to Come
Red are the Apples
The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree

So what's in your basket?

Hurricane books.
No time to list them all.

Great thread, Colleen! It's been several years since we last visited this topic and this is always such a rich season for literature. Old thread - Favorite fall books

Well, if I actually had a fall reading basket ready , some of my new favorites to include (that haven't already been mentioned here or the other thread) would be:

The Scarecrow's Hat
The Lonely Scarecrow
The Waltz of the Scarerows
The Little Scarecrow Boy

Pumpkin Jack
Too Many Pumpkins
The Apple Pie that Papa Baked - Just discovered this one today. Told in the style of "the house Jack built" - the illustrations are wonderfully folksy. Very cute.

I'm a big pushover for pumpkin and scarecrow books.

We just checked out a huge stack of Autumn books at the library this week. Some are from last year, but I think that it's time to introduce some of these to my younger son, Sam. Anyway, we read Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson this morning. The pictures are very impressionistic in style. It tells the story of Fletcher the fox watching the leaves fall from his favorite tree. At first he thinks that his tree is sick and he tries to protect his beloved tree. He sees that he cannot stop the leaves from falling and at the end the tree transforms into its winter splendor. I really liked this one a lot.

I've also checked out The Perfect Pumpkin Pie by Denys Cazet and Pumpkin Town by Katie McKy. I have not read these yet, but I took a chance on any picture book with pumpkin in the title!

Pumpkin Soup My children love this story. It's not a classic, it's actually rather corny, and I have read it more times then I can count.

Don't forget Alyosha's Apple and Brother Bartholemew and the Apple Grove, and The Life and Times of the Apple. The other books we are using have been listed already.
