Update: December 26- My granddaughter was born this evening. I was there for the pushing part of the labor. It was a very long labor.
Her name is Ella Nicole. She weighs 7 lbs even and is 18.5 long. She is so tiny and beautiful and looks like my Charlie.
I am not sure what the future holds at this point. Please continue to pray for her and our family.
In the meantime, rejoice with my that I have a healthy, beautiful granddaughter!
--------------------------------------------------------
Some of you may remember this prayer request of mine back in April.
Well, the baby in question is my granddaughter, due to be born at the end of December. I am not sure why I waited so long to bring my need of prayers for this situation here. At first, it was to keep it private out of respect for my son and those he knows on this forum. I am sure that my pride is part of it too.
As things stand now, my son and the mother of the baby have broken up. There was lots of drama over the summer and they are both very young and immature. She is seeing a counselor now who is helping her. She had decided on adoption, but then changed her mind hoping that she and my son would reconcile and live happily ever after.
I don't really see it happening, and I am not sure that it would be for the best even if it did happen. Right now, she is on the fence again.
Could you please pray for the Holy Spirit to guide her, and my son? I really feel that this baby would be best served by giving her up for adoption, as hard-hearted as that sounds. Dh and I are, of course, willing to help in every way. We have offered her a room in our house, childcare while she continues at the community college, etc. I just know first-hand that a child needs to start life with an intact family. A very loving, but not intact family, is a close second. In the case of my son, it wasn't enough. Even though my dh adopted him when he was four, he carries great resentment at the abandonment of his biological father.
Thank you all for your prayers. Just bringing this here finally lifts some of the weight off of my shoulders.

Praying with empathy...I've prayed my dear friend and my SIL down this path. Please PM me if you would like to connect with my friend, who did for her daughter's boyfriend what you have offered to do for this young lady.

Oh, Molly....so many . I do remember your prayer request from April! I'm so glad you and your husband were able to offer her enough support so that she chose life!
I will certainly pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit for all of you, and in particular that Our Lord will make clear what is best for this precious new life. So many variables and difficult roads to navigate...be assured of my prayers!

"I really feel that this baby would be best served by giving her up for adoption, as hard-hearted as that sounds."
Sorry but I don't know how to repaste your quote but I felt compelled to reply to this part. I would think it must be through tremendous tears to want your grandchild adopted to another home. I don't think that's hard-hearted...it's probably very heavy-hearted to believe that. I just thought you shouldn't be burdened by wanting what you truly believe will be best for the baby. Whatever the parents decide, may God's peace be with you all.
