Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Prayingprayingprayingpraying...

You get the idea.

It is a privilege to pray for your intentions and for your good health and rapid recovery. (And for your husband!)

May Our Lady hold you in her arms and lift you in prayer to our beloved Savior.

Hello ladies. The husband here.

This morning did not go as well as planned. Surgery took longer than it was supposed to because they found the cancer had done more damage than they thought at first. Unfortunately this is going to mean a longer stay in the hospital, as well as treatments to follow.

She also is having a rough time shaking the anesthesia. I left her (after the last nurse check) just long enough to come home and check on the kids, and I'll be heading back. They figure she'll be sleeping most of the afternoon, but are trying to wake her every 30-45 minutes for a bit.

Please keep her in your prayers today.
Thank you so much.

"The Husband" aka JP

Oh Steph and JP,
Your intentions and Steph's surgery have been at the top of my prayers today!!! My prayers continue for all of you, and especially for Steph. I pray for her recovery, and especially that surgery was able to successfully remove all of the cancer! I'm also including prayers for your circumstances as well as the children who must be so worried for their dear mama!

I'll be anxiously awaiting any other updates!

It's the husband again. I was talking to the surgeon (first I have seen him since Steph got out of surgery) and he told me he had to perform a radical hysterectomy because the cancer was also found on her cervix.

They may have to bring her back into the OR, because someone said something about possible damage being done to her bowel during surgery that they missed.

It's the husband again. Steph did reasonably well with the 2nd surgery yesterday. Again, it took quite a long time for her to come out of the anesthesia, but she did very late last night.

She's in quite a bit of pain, so they have her on morphine for today, and possibly tomorrow.

Today however, will probably be one of mixed emotion for her. Her brother's wife delivered a very healthy baby boy this morning at around 9:15am. While she is very happy for them, and elated to have another nephew, she is feeling very emotional at the thought of us not having any more biological children.

Please pray today for her emotional state.

You're right...we don't have any family around whom we could ask for help.

The church we belong to has been informed of what's going on, as Steph is a member of a couple of committees (hospitality, lector, women's league etc.)

However, we have not yet heard from anyone for assistance of any kind, other than people taking her place during her allotted times on duty with the various committees.

I also know that Steph called regarding the possibility of a Christmas basket through the parish, but I believe (please don't quote me on this) they told her it was too late to guarantee anything, as all families in need were to be on the list by a certain date, and we weren't on it.

We'll figure something out, I'm sure. Thanks for your guidance however. I do appreciate it, as my brain isn't always thinking clearly these last few days.

God bless all of you for your prayers and advice.
JP
