Another weekend, another hurricane. I really hate this pattern. We're getting the outer bands today here in Key West. There are so many of our members in the potential cone of this hurricane, I'm certain we'd all appreciate your prayers! Cay posted this lovely prayer earlier this week.
Prayer During Hurricane Season
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control.
The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us.
Amen.
Originally dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Audrey in 1957. - Fr. Al Volpe, Cameron Parish, LA

Oh, my gosh. I hadn't heard the latest updates. I'm absolutely ill. I am going to be offering a Chaplet of Divine Mercy on Monday at 3PM EST - I hope it's early enough - I hope you'll join me.
Blessings,

We're praying mightily here for all involved. My dh is on-call with the Public Health Service for emergency response in October, but many of his friends and peers are waiting, ready to respond if needed.
Love,

Just wanted to let all of you in the path of Gustav know that you are in our constant prayers today. My family was able to evacuate NO on Friday. This has been sooooo hard for them along with the rest of the LA and MS coast line.

Our family left the area very early Sunday morning. They have made it to Ft. Worth, but told us many of their neighbors and friends did not evacuate. Please continue praying for all the people still in the path of Gustav.

We're continuing to pray here. My aunt is in Lafayette, and we are unsure what exactly they are expecting. They weathered Katrina fairly well as she went east. This time Gustav is tracking more westerly, so they could be hit hard. We haven't heard from her, so are uncertain as to whether she's evacuated.
I pray that everyone is safe and snug and that they will return home to find that all is well.
Blessings,

Thank you for the prayer.
We will continue to pray for all in Gustav path. We pary that this hurricane will ease and change from the intended strength to something much less dangerous.
May God protect you all

Praying here as well. I know the active duty community here is getting ready in case there is a need to help. Soldiers from Fort Bragg helped in the aftermath of Andrew in Florida and Hood soldiers will be called if needed.

Thanks all for your prayers. I am writing from a hotel in Houston. We will likely be here until WEd. or Thurs. It seems we dodged the worst case scenario of the storm in Louisiana but will still be affected for weeks. We don't know yet how our home or marine equipment fared but it seems our particular area was spared a lot of the wind and surge as the hurricane had veered north by then. Please keep praying, now that power will be restored quickly and people will be able to return to their homes.

Mr. Cool-Boy (aka, Joe at 19) called last night to let us know his 2nd floor apt leaks a bit, but he's fine though without power. He says if it gets really bad one of his roommates has a sister at DZ and they have backup generators so they'll head over there .... !
Thanks for all the prayers for the folks down there. Looks like Hanna will miss them (coming up the east coast instead) but another system is already developing! Gotta love hurricane season!
ETA: Cool-boy called and after sleeping at a friend's apartment (with power) last night, they came back to flooding or as he said "raining IN my apartment" ... boy is he bummed. They're trying to find somewhere to sleep for a few days ... but all seems closed in BTR, even LSU which doesn't usually close.
What a drag ... continued prayers are needed for all college students/young adults who are too sure and then get so disappointed when things don't work out as they "should"....
