Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hey y'all, I just finished my simple-craft-of-the-week post for this week. We made crayon cookies -- something we'd never done and had so much fun (except for trying to peel some of the labels off the crayons )

Anyway, hope y'all have as much fun with this week's craft as we did!

The boys and I just made these! Fun craft for a suddenly open afternoon (DH had to go to work unexpectedly.) They're melting in the oven as I type.

The hardest part was getting the paper off the crayons -- do they glue them on these days?

Very cool looking. I want to do this, but we don't have an old muffin tin. All I have is a Pampered Chef stone one. Will that work? Will it clean up?

Molly -- I wouldn't chance a PC muffin pan. Any shaped pans will work -- including foil "tartlet" pans. You could also go to the thrift store or dollar store and buy a "cheapy" one. We have a muffin tin we use for craft stuff like this -- it's great to sort parts/pieces of projects as well as crafts like the crayons.

Just my opinion!

I meant to post earlier that this is so neat! And with Valentine's Day coming up, they could be melted in heart shaped tins (would the dollar store carry cheap disposable ones now?) to make cute valentines.

Janette,

I love the idea of the valentine shaped crayons ... if the dollar store doesn't have them, the craft store would -- and you could do them a couple at a time so you don't have to invest in too many!

I love this craft! And thanks for this reminder, Janette. I was thinking I didn't have an old muffin tin and not about to go shopping anytime soon. But years ago I had some cast iron molds/tins shaped like hearts I used for making candles for a bridal shower, so these would be perfect to use for this craft.

Funny about the removing paper. My son doesn't seem to have any problem with that area!

Except for when you WANT the paper off ... then it sticks like it's glued!

My 3yo and I had a fun time doing this today. We completely emptied our box of old broken crayons and made 12 new crayon "cookies". What a great way to use up old broken crayons. I wouldn't have felt good about throwing them out.

Thanks!!

I'm glad you answered this, when I saw your blog I wanted to know whether I could chance my regular tin cleaning up or not.
