Has anyone here read Leah's Pony by Elizabeth Friedrich and Michael Garland? I HIGHLY recommend it!
I read it to my children about 7 or 8 years ago. I burst into tears at the climax and my kids just stared at me dumbfounded. I had to reassure them that I was just overcome at the sacrifice, generosity, and love of her family that the main character portrayed.
The only detail I will give away is that it was set in the mid-west during the great depression.
