It seems like just yesterday I was asking you all for your favorite summer drinks! Well, now I'm wondering if you'd share your favorite winter drinks. 
What do you like to drink when the wind howls and the snow flies? Cocoa, coffee, tea, hot cider, grog? Please share recipes if you have them! (I'm looking for some fun coffee drinks especially!) Thanks!

Without a doubt-hot cider! I keep it simmering in the crockpot all day with cloves, orange peel, nutmeg and ginger (and anything else I can find!!)wrapped in cheesecloth inside. Yummy! The whole house smells great too!

We love cider and hot cocoa during these months. The kids enjoy putting an Andes mint in the bottom of their cocoa cups.

MacBeth, what goes in your wassail? Is it a grown up drink, or something kids can drink?
I have to tell you all while grocery shopping yesterday, the boys spied a container of raspberry marshmallow fluff (if you're from New England you know how yummy fluff is  ). We all thought a dollop of that in our cocoa would make it taste like a truffle!
Oh, and I should mention I did a post while back with some kid-friendly tea ideas.

We like
Russian Tea
2 c. instant tea with lemon and sugar
1 c. Tang
1 c pre-sweetened lemonade
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
Mix it all together and use two teaspoons (or more) in a cup of hot water. This mix makes a nice gift in a quilted jar with a pretty bow.
If you're a really nice mom, you can add cinnamon red hots to the mix  .
And, Nicholas' all-time favorite morning drink in the winter is
Candy Cane tea with a little honey and a big splash of eggnog!

Eggnog at suppertime...
What is that song strumming through my head anyway??? 
Seriously, I enjoy my coffee in the morning and the whole family loves eggnog (of any flavor). Cocoa is a given.

Make your own cafe mocha.
Mix equal parts strong coffee and hot chocolate (make your own is better -- from melted bittersweet chocolate mixed with milk -- but a cocoa mix is okay too). Top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of cocoa powder and/or cinnamon. If you want it decadent add a splash of Kahlua or raspberry liquor or raspberry syrup, or hazelnut syrup, or Grand Marnier... I never miss Starbucks when I make this for myself:D

I remember Russian Tea . My mom used to make it alot. I can't get Tang and lemonade here , so it is not an option.
We do really like this cocoa mix. It is an older recipe from America so maybe some of you moms know it.
Carnation instant non fat milk
Creamer
Nestles' Quik
Powdered sugar
Mix together and put 1/3 cup mixture in a mug and add boiling water.
I can't remember the amounts for the life of me. I need to find that recipe.

Dawn -- did your family like the raspberry fluff? You are a nicer mommy than me , I wouldn't buy it.
My mother-in-law is nice, too, because she sent our son home with a jar when he went to the market with her.
Fluffernutter sandwiches are a favorite in our house, but we found the raspberry fluff not so yummy. It is a bit too sweet and very artificial tasting. Even our resident sweet fiend (eldest son) said it had a funny aftertaste.
It did not occur to me to top hot chocolate with it as we do with the regular fluff. Did it taste like a truffle?
Our favorite drinks:
Hot cider with cinnamon sticks. Our children's favorite!
Regular egg nog - our favorite was Week's brand, but I think they went out of business  . I am still on the hunt for a new favorite. Hood and Oakhurst are okay, but so far Southern Comfort brand regular Egg Nog wins the taste test. I usually only serve egg nog at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we started early this year.
Ghiradelli sweet cocoa topped with whipped cream, mini marshmallows or Fluff. Delicious with a candy cane to stir!
Tazo Honeybush tea is my favorite of late. The Republic of Tea Mango Ceylon is another favorite. I try to drink my tea plain, but sometimes I just need a tiny bit of honey to sweeten. My husband tolerates that 1/12 of our food cabinet space in the kitchen is devoted to TEA. He is such a good sport!
My husband really enjoys Pacific Chai in the Vanilla flavor. I think he likes it because it least tastes like spicy chai tea. (he is not a tea drinker).
Mocha mint coffee when I am out and about.
Bailey's and Coffee for an occasional treat. The Bailey's takes care of the need for sugar and cream. Yummy!

Mmmm...it's been super windy here with a feel of Autumn in the air, the temp has been plunging into the 70's at night, so all the hatches are open and the air is off and it is sooo peaceful and quiet. A perfect time for a cup of cappuccino and rum. I am really groovin' on Coconut Rum right now, try it - delicious!

We like to drink what I call a 'hot milk' - fill your mug about two thirds full with boiling water, mix in a spoon of molasses and top off the mug with milk. I like mine with a scant teaspoon of molasses and skim milk, while some of my children like a large dallop with whole milk. It's a nice anytime drink to warm you up with no caffeine, no waiting, it's kid-friendly and actually kind of good for you.

We LOVE hot apple cider with mulling spices from Williams-Sonoma. My husband and I keep saying, "We can make mulling spices ourselves." But we end up buying their spices because we love them so much. I'm off to make some now  !
