Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Where did you see this? Their website just says they are not taking orders at this time. Surely they will at least be selling their inventory at some point, even if they stop publishing. It is possible, too, that they would sell their imprint to or contract with another publisher who will distribute their books. I hope it doesn't mean the books are going out of print.

I've never bought from them, so I guess it's not a surprise. Sorta floats my husbands theory that our purchases are single handedly keeping some publishers in business.

I just saw someone mention this on Cathswap too, but I wondered , since , as Lindsay said, the site doesn't say it. I recently ordered something from them through a bookstore and was sad to hear about the founder.

Martha... this time it's because the founder died unexpectedly.

Can I copy and paste the email I got from them? It's a mass email.... Please, Mods... I'm not trying to offend if this is not okay, let me know...

Dear Krista,

Thank you for your patronage and support in the past 32 years of doing business with The Neumann Press.

Dennis and Dorothy McCoy founded The Neumann Press in 1981, with the goal of republishing and reprinting long lost Catholic titles with beautiful bindings and excellent content. As an apostolate, their goal was reached and surpassed, rediscovering and reinforcing a Catholic culture that inspired many young families and adults to take heart in difficult times.

Dennis McCoy passed away on April 22, 2013 from an aggressive form of lymphoma which took us all by surprise. Dennis was in so many ways the "glue" that held The Neumann Press together and is sorely missed.

Thank you for the innumerable prayers while Dennis was ill and for those offered for the repose of his soul.

We regret that we must close the doors of The Neumann Press. This has been a difficult and painful decision for our family, and we know this closure will be sad news to many of you. We can no longer accept and process orders and are officially closed.

Our goal is to offer any remaining stock of our titles in a closing sale in late summer/early fall 2013, and will keep you all updated as to when the exact dates will be.

Thank you again and God Bless you all,

The Neumann Press and the McCoy Family

I didn't know about this, Krista! I'm really glad you let us know. I'll miss Neumann Press and I'm so sad to hear of Dennis' passing. I'm grateful you let us know so I can pray for the repose of his soul.

It is always sad for me to see a Catholic family business close its doors.

It really is sad. I feel terrible for their loss, and for the obviously difficult decision to close because of it. I'll been praying for their consolation and his repose, as well.

Perhaps others could share their favorite Neuman Press titles so that we can better compile our wishlists for when they do have their sale?

It would be hard to whittle down my list to a selection of favorites! Everything they reprinted was classic and worthwhile! I'd end up just listing everything on their website. I think I may have one copy of everything they reprinted. I don't often prefer a reprint over an original, but if Neumann Press reprinted it, I did! Their binding was so beautiful and solid, covers are lovely, paper a creamy easy-on-the-eye color and nice and substantial in terms of weight/thickness.

Please bump this thread when they do have their sale. It is sad...wish someone would take over instead of close. They had high standards.

I agree. Every book of theirs I own is a treasure to our family. I guard them ferociously from the destroyers, aka the little kids.

I'll definitely keep you updated on their sale. I'll let you know... right after I make my purchases.

I just bought a lot of my must-haves from Adoremus Books in case they didn't have any left. Good thing we got a huge tax return last month.

Wow. I'm glad I wrestled the iPad away from my ds tonight, or I'd have never known. I guess I'll be compiling a wish list tonight and hunting for inventory!

Wow... Adoremus books is already out of the Angel Food books. :/

I just got the okay from Hubby to get the Angel Food books off the Amazon Marketplace. Those are the ones I want the most, so if I don't end up getting anything else, at least I have those.

Glad I ordered the rest of my set at 11 PM last night then. Wow.

I also picked up the remaining volumes of Catholic Stories for Boys and Girls that I needed, the St. Gregory Hymnal, Old Testament Rhymes, A Book of Cradle Songs, The Illustrated Catechism for Children, My Mass Book, and the St. Joseph Missal for Children.

When my husband got home from the airport about midnight, I showed him an old catalog and told him they were closing, and he replied, "So did you buy everything?"

Alas, if only I could!!!!

I really wanted the St. John Bosco book, but it looks like nobody really has it.

I bought it from Adoremus in paperback. It was a different publisher. I'm so glad I put in my order right away. I spent over $450, but I got MOST of the books I wanted.    Hopefully they will have all the rest in their clearance sale!
