We use it in our co-op and we love it. I was going to use it at home, but then this co-op came together and it has been wonderful. The selections are great and the kids really enjoy it. They are learning so much. If you have any specific questions, just ask.

That is so nice to hear, Anita. I would be using it at home if I bought it. There are not many other Catholic homeschooler's in our area. Do you think it would work well in a home setting v. a co-op?
I am guessing it's not a complete program so I would need to supplement it?
I will have a 10th, 9th, 8th, 5th and K students, next school.I was thinking of using it mostly with my K and 5th grader. Is K too young for it?
Other than my questions, the only other thing holding me back from getting it is that I would like to see some actual pages from the books. The sample pages I've seen are so small that I can't really even read them. Do you know of a site that has more sample pages? I am a visual type and need to 'see" what I am actually buying beforehand! LOL

There is an old thread that covers a couple years worth of discussion on it - from the time it was introduced to last spring.
Classically Catholic Memory?
A lot more families are starting to use it both in a home setting and in co-op settings. In fact I recall in this thread that several members mentioned they had just stated using it in fall 2012 and it was going great.
My kids are now too old, but I've seen it in action for two years with the lower level of a co-op we belong to. It is really going well. They are in Beta year now. Did Alpha year last year. They are working here locally to start up a couple more co-ops based on CCM because of the popularity.

We use CCM at home with our family, and love it! We've been using it for 2 years now. It is the spine for our homeschooling, other than math and writing/grammar. The oldest 4 use it most, but all kids get something out of it.
If you have any specific questions, I'll answer what I can.

You would need to supplement, but it makes a great spine. Rolling Acres School is developing a program around it: Schola Rosa. You might look there for suggestions.
I don't think K is too young. My k'er is picking up on and remembering so much. Especially the time line and the poetry, even the skip counting and formulas. My dh is so amazed that our k'er is able to tell him the major characteristics of the classes arthropoda, fish, reptiles, amphibians, etc. I can't believe she can find Azerbaijan on a map.
5th grade is spot on for it. Our 5th/6th/7th group is able to handle it and recall it all very well. They are so proud of themselves, too. It builds such a sense of accomplishment.
I would be using it at home if we weren't in this co-op. It is definitely doable at home, especially with the CDs and the teaching techniques in the teacher book. We do review at home for co-op, so it's just a part of our day like it would be if we didn't have the co-op. It's fun for them, too.

Oh, one more thing. Rolling Acres School is putting together a curriculum using CCM as a spine. More info here: Schola Rosa at Rolling Acres School
Maybe a good place to look for suggestions on building a school year around it.

We do CCM in a co-op setting. We really like it. We meet every-other-Thursday. On the off Thursdays we take the day off from regular schoolwork to spend time specifically on CCM items.
A friend of mine does an excellent job of using CCM as a spine. She fills in the History with living books; she uses the Great Words memory work as dictation, copywork, and grammar; she elaborates on the Science with resources she finds on edhelper.com and Enchanted Learning, and several other things.
I don't think I'd be as diligent about the memory work if we weren't in a co-op setting, but if you think you can discipline yourself to do it then I would highly recommend it!
Oh, and an aside: We have kids ages 5 to 13 in our co-op, so I think many ages benefit from it. My friend, whose daughter is 13, intends to continue using it next year. I like that the younger children could potentially get two chances to learn the memory work if I decide to continue doing it for several years. It is challenging for the little ones, especially!

Thank you all so very much for your help! I am so glad I posted. You all are awesome and I appreciate your help and feedback. The more I read about CCM and what I read from families that are actually using it, makes me feel like this is something my homeschool and family would benefit from. :) I am really excited about it! After homeschooling for 11 years, we are in need of a change and I think CCM fits the bill. ;)

So both ccm and the schola rosa program would need to be supplemented with math and a writing program. Anything else?
Also, what is the difference between these programs besides the fact of how schola rosa is mostly online? I'm trying to wrap my head around both programs...the coop is sounding more what I want to do. What is the price for them? They said 200$ for schola rosa but is that really it? Would we have to buy more materials?
What kind of mom time does ccm need?

Yes, you'd definitely need a math program. The first 12 weeks of the 18-week program are skip-counting songs. The remaining six weeks are formulas, I think.
Depending how you do writing, you may or may not need a supplemental writing program. I have my oldest (11YO) study more about individual timeline cards each week and write a narration about that event. He and I sometimes take one of his narrations and do more proofreading and editing - we approach writing from more of a CM-style, though.
In my opinion, though, you'll need to heavily supplement the other subjects as well. CCM is meant to be a spine or a supplement, but none of the subjects are thorough or complete enough to completely replace what you would otherwise do at home.

We have been very blessed in our co-op. We have an amazing board that organized everything very well. We have 4 groups doing CCM. They are broken down by age - 5/6 yo, 7/8 yo, 9/10 yo and 11/12 yo. We have 3 hours at our co-op. We have been blessed to have all 3 levels of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd offered. The Memory Work is broken down into 2 separate classes - one is Science and Geography, the other is the rest of the Memory Work, except the Timeline. We do the Timeline together. The students alternate each week with either Art or Atrium. The breakout for Science and Geography allows more time to be spent on those subjects. This has been great for science, especially. They have been able to do dissections and such along with the memory work. Having art at co-op is great, too. The art teachers have come up with great projects.
We do the Timeline together as a group and then the students go to 1 hour long classes and rotate through.
All the moms have a job. Most of us teach. We have two teachers who co-teach memory work to the younger kids and 2 for the olders. We have 2 science and geography teachers for the youngers and 2 for the olders. We have a great CGS team - they have 3. We have 2 art teachers, as well. The CGS and Art teachers will see either the younger or older students each week.
Having 2 teachers helps, especially when someone is out with sick kids, etc.
Each set of teachers only teaches for 2 hours out of the 3 as well, so it isn't too much.
We have 4 Moms in the Nursery for all the kids too young for classes.
There are also some junior high and high schoolers who are doing other classes as well. One group is doing a Rolling Acres Socratic discussion group. Some of the Moms teach that. There's an Apologetics class and a Lego Robotics class, too.
We teach new material for 2 weeks and then have a review week. During the review week, the children give presentations (simple ones) in Science and Geography. The Memory work teachers review everything that week.
The board has a few Moms who were involved in a local Classical Conversations group and so were able to take their experience and really get something great going.

I'm glad you've decided to order it! We've been using it for several weeks now and my children love it! We use it in our home (we are the only Catholics in our home school group, so a co-op isn't an option for us with this program).
Because we started using it in January, I'm doing the Alpha year one week at a time. Once we start the Beta year, I will probably do it two weeks at a time. With the Alpha year, however, I've decided to do six consecutive weeks then take one or two weeks for heavy review just to make sure my kids are getting everything.
My children are 10, 8, 6, and 3 - and even the 3 year old is picking up on several things!
I hope you enjoy it as much as we have! We are only on week 8, but I'm already planning on purchasing the Beta year soon!

Our co-op meets every-other-week, so we take two weeks to learn each "week" of memory work in CCM.

I just wanted to update. It took a little long to receive my CCM materials but I wanted to say they are beautiful. We are going to start using it in the Fall so I have been looking it over and making my plans. I am glad I bought it!

Ha! My order came fast. I ordered it on a Friday, they asked on Saturday if I intended to order timeline cards which they showed as having been previously purchased. And everything arrived on Tuesday.
But they are in Texas and I'm in Oklahoma. I have no idea why but I can get stuff out of state in 3-5 days, but it take 3 weeks for my sister or friends in state to get anything from me. :/
