Since I was late posting last week, I thought I'd jump the gun this week and shout out a little early for me on the west coast.
This week has been a blur. A good blur. Yep, pretty sure it has been good .
Well, if you don't count that we had a small fire under my kitchen sink (caught it early, thank Goodness) or that I had a flat tire. Or that we needed to replace 2 faucets. And a water filter system. I'd better stop there!
Didn't start "school" as planned, but I had planned on a slow start anyway, so there it is, so slow it didn't happen!
New blog post, inspired by my recent trip to my hometown.
13yo trying out for a Junior High baseball team. Pretty sure he'll make it. Find out tomorrow.
Dave is gone ALL WEEK! You would think I'd be better at not missing him when he's gone by now.
ETA: Our kids are throwing me & Dave a 25th wedding anniversary party this Saturday . Official date, next Shout Out August 22 .
Have a great week everyone!
Love,

Happy anniversary, Dave and Angie!
Our week has been a blur, too. Dancing Daughter and I moved Alex to Indiana this past weekend, with the help of a Navy friend. He starts his junior year classes on Monday. On this trip, I met up with my dear college roommate/maid of honor after 15 years or so...what a blessing! Our home feels empty without our son, but he's coping well with all the changes.
I'm facing job worries - one client has put our project on hold, and my main client is being sold by its parent company, which probably means a layoff is in my future. I'm working on alternatives, but unemployment is scary. We'd appreciate your prayers.

Happy early anniversary, Angie!!!!! Rob and I are only 5 years behind you and Dave!
Nancy,
I will definitely pray regarding the job situation!
Blur?
Yes.
My sister's wedding was this past Saturday and it was absolutely beautiful!!! It was hard for us in so many ways since we lost my little brother Chris to cancer about a year ago. We were all so close, and he and my sister were especially so. The wedding was such a big event, and his not being there was really felt by Mom, Dad and I! I know he was praying for her though because the day could not have been more blessed or more beautiful and we all felt that keenly, too! That wedding concluded our last big hurrah for the summer....and it feels FANTASTIC to be home, no plans, no showers, parties, things to print, coordinate, call or design. We made it!!
This week I scrubbed my kitchen and have really been enjoying being in here and more attentive!
We bought a new (to us) kitchen table off Craigslist last night and I love it! Hmmmmm....how could I describe it for you? I think I'd call it farmhouse chic. It isn't fussy or formal, but it has pretty turned legs and trim around the tabletop. The surface of the table is a maple in a darker stain. I'm sitting at it right now with my cup of coffee in the morning light! It looks so pretty with white hydrangeas on it! (leftover from my sister's wedding! ) We've needed a bigger table for years now, so when we saw "the right one" we grabbed it. It's a perfect fit for our family and expands nicely when my folks or Rob's folks come over! I'm really happy with it!
We started back to lessons yesterday and that went such a long way toward restoring a sense of normalcy and routine here. I think we all enjoyed it immensely!
Today is....
...more normalcy.
...more laundry catch-up.
...some delightful reading about Our Lady's Assumption.
...Mass for Our Lady.
...dinner around my new table - how fitting that our first meal at our new table would be on Our Lady's Holy Day!
Happy Feast of the Assumption everyone!

Happy Anniversary Angie! And congrats on the wedding (and it being over Jen!) -- and the table... this is me green with jealousy! LOL Sounds beautiful!
Praying for your job situation, Nan.
My parents celebrate their 50th anniversary on the 25th, I guess it is a month for weddings and celebrations!
My mom got home from the hospital yesterday and she is doing better than we expected (which is not great, but surviving!). This week my brother and his family will come down for a pizza party for their anniversary.
Not much else exciting going on here - which is good - last week was "exciting" enough for me for a long time!

I finally caught a Wednesday!
Life is....yep a blur is a great way to put it.
My Mom left back to Italy after a 3 week trip to visit us and we started school on Monday.
I have two home shows this week (I sell Premier Designs jewelry) as well so craziness is a wonderful way to explain it!
On top of it all, the waking up before the kids now that we have started school is taking a toll on this pregnant lady's body. I am SOOOOO tired all day long no matter what time I go to sleep. And the reality is that I need to stay up a bit later to get other things ready for my week! If I could, I would be in bed at the kids bedtime!
Oh and the fabric for the baby's crib bedding just arrived! Yay, I know I have some much needed relaxation sewing coming up! My Mom bought the pattern and fabric for me so I am all set to start cutting and piecing together.
BTW, this pregnant lady forgot to order literally half of the books needed to school the kids this year. I thought I had bought them and when I went to place them in the kids bins, they were't there! I had not pressed the purchase button and never realized it! So, We started with what we had, working really well as a slow return to school!
Praying for all your intentions and may you all have a wonderful day!

Happy Feast Day, Everyone!
I am quickly finishing one of my favorite knitted baby sweater patterns. Lily and I get to attend a baby shower this weekend, she is so excited!
The minute it is done, which will be this morning, hopefully, I have to start on a pattern for a knitted bird. Lily has insisted that for her FIFTH birthday, (the girl is getting so big!) she wants a stuffed ALBATROSS! Good grief, that has been impossible to find. I have searched the web, I have looked at a dozen zoo gift shops sites....no albatrosses. She is just in love with this bird after seeing it in a nature book....which she carries around lots of times, and has memorized most animal facts from it. So....I am off to knit a bird or two from a Ravelry pattern I found....and I need to do it fast because her birthday is Tuesday next week.
We are dealing with colds this week. Everyone is stuffy, cranky and tired. I am escaping this, except I feel like I have an ear infection. I think I have had two of those since I was five.
I am still planning away for school that starts the Tuesday after Labor Day. I really am excited about this year!
My oldest starts college next week, that is a big deal. We still need to do a bit of shopping.
The weather is finally cooling down, thank goodness!
Enjoy Our Lady’s Feast Day! Pray for us all, Blessed Mother!
ps--Congrats, Angie!!

Life here has been hectic here too! More car repairs, running out of gas, lost keys and computer issues. Oh well, could be sooooo much worse.
Happy Anniversary Dave and Angie! May God bless you with many more!
Praying for your job needs Nancy!
So glad to hear the wedding went well Jen! I'm sure Chris was praying for the day and know just what you mean about missing him being there.
Thankful your Mom is doing well Amy! Still praying.
BTDT when placing orders Mimi! I always take it as God's little suggestion to slow down too!
Happy Feast of the Assumption everyone!
Off to prepare for hosting a big end of Summer get-together for kiddos!

Happy anniversary, Angie, and happy feast day, everyone!
Our week: Back from Memphis on Sunday; laundry, school-book-buying, plane-ticket-for-college-student-buying on Monday. The first round of our new books for the year should get here today, and I'm excited -- last year I bought virtually nothing, but this year we budgeted for a number of things I'd been wanting, for which this seemed to be the right time. So I've been sorting out our various boxes, baskets, and bins to be ready to start next week. Of course, now I'm driving the college girly to Greenville, SC, on Tuesday for her Southwest flight back to school, which sort of blows our seamless first-week-back out of the water, so I'm looking through my backlog of Librivox audiobooks to find some things for four hours' worth of car-schooling. I'm also contemplating doing a sort of orientation meeting with the kids about the new school year after morning Mass on Monday (while the college girl is rushing around getting her last-minute details sorted out), then starting for real on Wednesday and having a short week.
Yesterday all four kids and I went to the mountains with a group of friends for our annual "last hurrah"/not-back-to-school picnic and play day. It was a great day: kids swam in the creek and ran wild all day long, then we went for ice cream in Blowing Rock and played in the town park for a while before heading home.
I'm singing at Mass tonight, then have choir practice, so I'm trying to figure out some festive crockpot-ish meal for everyone else for the feast. My younger kids are at Y camp, my oldest is at work, my one son at home has a laundry list of chores courtesy of Dad, so it's kind of a scattered day.
Meanwhile, the mason is building the brick supports for our new front porch . . . this is all an exercise in patience, but I am looking forward to its being done, maybe by the end of next week. The weather's so nice right now, it's hard not to have the porch to sit on! On the other hand, our study, where I'm sitting right now, is clean and well-arranged and a nice place to be, which makes me even more ready to be having school in here once more.
Off to fold laundry. Again, a happy feast day to all!
Sally

Oh my, I made it early today
Yeah for you and Dave, 25 yrs
Praying for your intentions ladies. And Mimi, I just received my first Premier piece last night. I went to a jewlery party at a friends house a few weeks ago. That is all she wears and it looks wonderful on her all the time! I thought I'd give it a try.
Jen, we've been looking for a bigger table and just haven't found the right reasonably priced one yet. Yours sounds wonderful, can't wait to see a pic in one of your great blog posts
To be honest this whole summer feels like a blur Dh's new job is really taking some getting used to. But the kids have started school and I'm excited for this new year and routine at home. Oh, and I can't wait to hear the CD's from the Colorodo conference for some hs inspiration
Have a blessed rest of the week ladies

Congratulations, Angie on 25 years of marrage. Pat and I celebrated our 26th anniversary last month.
This past week has seen its struggles and successes.
Schoolwork has been completed (somewhat ). I just try to get done what I can during the day. Some days are good and others not so good...but I've made it through.
Alot of this week has been spent getting Amy ready to head of to Christendom College on Friday. My ds-25 spent a year at Steubenville, but it feels a lot different sending a daughter off such a long distance away from home..(about 7 hours away). We take her Friday, stay for a parents dinner and then are heading into Baltimore to spend the night with dh's cousins. (I think this gives me as much stress as dropping off Amy--I wish we were staying at a hotel but we don't have the money for that).
I know Amy will do fine there. Her boyfriend is in his third year there so she already has a great support system. I do worry about her health, but we have found a wonderful doctor down there if the need arises.
God Bless everyone's upcoming week.

This week has been relatively quiet. Last week we were vacationing at South Lake Tahoe, and next week several family members depart in various directions -- dh Kevin and oldest son Liam up to work in Oregon, daughter back to Thomas Aquinas COllege for her senior year.
The fire inspector came by last Saturday and gave us a to-do list , and there was a forest fire only a few miles down the mountain from us, which meant several members of our church were evacuated voluntarily. Under control now, thankfully. Hot dry weather up here in the CA SIerras, and that along with a dry winter and careless tourists (a dropped cigarette started the fire) that means a serious fire hazard!
We rented a roll-off dumpster to clear out our basement, finally -- a furniture graveyard down there right now. So hauling trash will occupy us for the next couple of weeks. It will feel great to get rid of a bunch of broken stuff that's too big to fit in trash canister or car.
I was planning to homeschool through the summer, but we got sidetracked with trips and other activities, though I am still logging it as field trips and physical/social development!
Usually I find this thread on THursday so I'm glad to actually be able to shout this week !

Loving to read all the updates. Prayers for all your intentions!
I think this is my favorite holyday of obligation, just because of the time of year. Everyone is home, end of summer happenings, just the happy relaxed time!
This week is still a blur right now for me, too. Still peeling wallpaper and painting. AND purging stuff. I want to purge more. I have one room completed and I want to keep it OFF LIMITS, or at least tight regulation. We're working hard on some habits right now.
Doing a bit of sewing during the non-house breaks. It's only very short snatches. I had a long period on Sunday while the boys went swimming and it was just LOVELY. HEAVENLY.
I am trying to find my next knitting or crochet project for road trips and TV time. I finished my Tasha Tudor shawl and I am so empty handed now!
Trying to not panic. I can't think straight in this mess, so I'm just plodding along and not thinking about the school planning that is NOT happening.

Blur is right.. the whole world is colliding this week.. boy scouts is doing a big recruitment kickoff effort and I'm doing a lot of the print materials for that.. my mom suggested I should make up a largish newspaper ad.. adn then our district representative also asked me to do basically the same thing.. and then we have a birthday party this week (moved to dad's day off) and the awards for swim team and homeschoolers are meeting and somewhere in all this I have to get my house decluttered and cleaned up (decluttering makes such a mess) espeically the laundry caught up and sorted (getting rid of stuff).. and I need at least an interim plan for school..
On the good news side.. I do seem to be making some progress on the house AND I got quite a few boys signed up for cubscouts yesterday.

Jenn, I would love to see a pic of your Tasha Tudor shawl!
Willa, we could also use a dumpster here ! While showing my girlfriend our basement I suddenly realized just how much stuff we have. It is so easy to save things "just in case". In south Florida there are no basements. You just don't have the same temptations.
Joann, what a blessing that Amy can attend such a wonderful school! You must be so proud!
An Aux. Bishop held the Pontifical Mass this evening and he referred to the Assumption as an "Easter in the middle of summer". It was a beautiful Mass and all the Mass parts were sung in Latin, which my friend could follow better than the German!
On Monday my friend and I took the train to Cologne and spent the whole afternoon in the Cathedral. Daily there are tours in English and they are excellent. They also offer detective type programs there for kids... planning a bit for the Fall. I am really thankful that my dh made this trip possible. I could really focus my entire attention on what I was seeing and learning. We could spend time in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament to pray. The Cathedral is so full of tourists that you can't really pray anywhere else. At least I can't.
Maria will turn 13 next week and Helena celebrates her Name Day on the 18th. It is also the 2nd anniversary of her Diabetes diagnosis. It is something you just can't forget.
It is great to catch up with all of you ladies!

This week was a blur for me as well trying to get the dr appointments figured out for Dominic. There has been one problem after another (including his doctor being hospitalized). We are planning on sending the kids to Grandma Camp next week so I can have a whole week to declutter my house!!! Of course, if Dominic's MRI gets scheduled for next week, I will have to reschedule Grandma Camp as well.
I am very happy that we did 40 days of school this summer!!!! Now I won't feel guilty at all when we take time off during the regular school year!!!
I am trying to adjust to working part time from home this year. It has been a struggle to get it all done. I am thinking I might need to hire someone to clean the house every couple of weeks. Honestly, I needed that already. But now I can afford to do it!
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Happy Assumption! So nice to hear what's going on with everyone! My husband took off today for the feast, so we went to Mass together this morning, then to meet our newest nephew (just two weeks old!). It's my nameday today, so we have a nice dinner planned.
Busy week this week--friends over to play, schoolwork (we're in our sixth week now), a nature outing to the lake tomorrow, coffee out with a friend planned for Friday night, parents over this weekend. Meanwhile, I'm working along slowly but surely on my nesting list--purging, painting, a little sewing. Hoping to ramp that up this coming week!

So neat to hear what everyone is up to! Busy ladies!
I have been up to my eyeballs in art supplies lately. I've been unpacking and trying to organize all of our old stuff before our new supplies came in yesterday. I finally (almost) finished today and am very happy with the results.
I have one set of shelves housing all of our basic supplies sorted by type in neatly labeled containers, and another set of cubbies which houses supplies sorted by project, with a dozen awesome projects fully supplied and ready to roll as soon as we start up next (maybe) week.
Also, my garden is suddenly very productive so we are enjoying the fruits of those labors.
The last of our summer company (my 2 grandsons) leaves this Sunday, so I will have a chance to catch my breath and evaluate what else needs to be done.
I'm sure I'm missing a few things. For instance, I have no earthly idea where my son's math book is. We'll be needing that I suppose...

What a fun thread! I love seeing what everyone is working on during the week and to get new ideas. I'm already tired just reading about all the wonderful ways you are each enjoying your life.
Our week has been a bit blurry so far, but hoping that we are nearing the end of the chaos of preparing a house for the market. Last week we said goodbye to my nephew his wife and new baby as they moved to Florida. My hubby laid new stone tiles around the fireplace (the old surround was warped). Yesterday, the new vinyl in the kitchen and laundry room was installed (which means we spent the previous night moving out all the furniture and machines). Today new carpet was installed in the living and my little one decided to color on my schoolroom carpet with a marker. I still see a faint blue coloring, so I need to work on that some more today. I repacked all the boys' clothes that I'm storing, and pulled out all the upcoming winter items. Tonight my laundry room will hopefully be put back together and then I'll send some boxes home with my FIL.
We have continued school through all of this, and now that we are almost two weeks into the new year, everything seems to be coming together.
Till next week!
