Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How has your week been since last we met?

Technically it will be Wednesday & August for me in 55 minutes. Getting a jump on things - woo hoo!

Thank goodness I can report that the tables and paperwork are out of my hallway . Bathroom 1 is almost 100% finished, bathroom 2 is painted but needs cabinets mounted & a few others things that we need to get help with.

Just finished blog post, I'll fail for you.

My 13yo & I are leaving Friday for a trip back east to visit family & friends. I'm getting ready! Be back Tuesday. Prayers for safety & fun appreciated .

Thanks so much for connecting here! Have a great week

Love,

Oh, it's officialy Wednesday for me. I won't be late this week. :)

I should be in bed, but I was trying to work on some toddler ideas for a little workshop I'm hosting on Thursday.

Today is my husband's birthday and at the last minute the kids and I decided to have a surprise celebration for him. Everyone is excited. Over the years, he has done this three times for me and I realized I have never done it for him. I hope it all turns out well. I think it will!

That's it. Good night. Good morning.

We are all a little sick here. I think it is just allergies, but it is worse than usual.

We got rid of our satellite to try and work in a car payment in our budget. I completely forgot how hard it is to get local channels! Now we can't watch the Olympics!! Trying to talk Dh into invested in a nice antenna so that we can get our favorite local channel and NBC. We will get it sometime, but I want it today. My youngest is having a hard time adjusting to this change.

Looking forward to the weekend! Hoping we are all well by then.

I am hosting my third little knitting workshop tonight at our house I am teaching two mamas and their girls how to knit. It is a lot of fun!
Still working on those plans for school!
Looking for a car for my oldest because he is going to commute to college. Shhheeessh....sticker shock on old cars!!!! I can not believe how expensive they are for what you are getting!!! We have less than four weeks here, feel a lot of pressure to get something now. We did look at a Subaru last night that only had 55,000 miles on it...I think they get a lot of miles like my sweet Suburban...that has 220,000 miles on it!
A few minor doc appointments today....maintenance...
And I am off to make coffee and some pancakes!

Whew. Well, I'm back from Memphis, and have found places to put away everything I brought from my mother's house! Still catching up on laundry.

2 children are at Totus Tuus in our parish today; one child is at soccer camp; one child is sick in bed with the stomach crud that the other three have had. I am so not looking forward to my turn with this stuff . . .

Finished 36 weeks' worth of lesson plans for my rising 9th grader, though I need to fine-tune them before I hand them over. He will be pretty much taking these plans and running with them, starting week after next. I'm still sorting out the youngers -- have shopped my shelves for books for this year and am finessing my list of things to buy (and trying to pare it down).

Meanwhile, the builders came to rip our front porch off yesterday. Our house is old, and this porch had been in *bad* shape ever since we bought it. Even the masonry bases for the pillars holding up the roof are bad. So it's being totally rebuilt . . . which is why suddenly I'm really paring the schoolbook to-buy list! At least the porch roof itself isn't going anywhere, so the house doesn't look totally naked. And we are scoring heaps of old bricks for use in building garden beds. But it's all a little chaotic, and we feel lost without our porch, which we live on 3 seasons of the year. At least it'll be back in business for the cooler fall weather!

Quiet around here right now, however. Three kids are out, and the sickie is asleep. Time to go make my bed and get some work done before time to fetch the soccer boy back from camp.

Sally

eta: some current pics of the porch here

OMG! We are in the market to and I about fell over at the prices! We haven't bought a car in 9 years so I haven't looked at prices in a long time. We were recently laughing at some relatives at the prices they were selling their used cars, but I was shocked to find out that was the going price. They tried to sell it to us and we declined thinking it was overpriced, but that may have been a mistakes.

During the past week we've had to have repairs done to two different vehicles, both more than 10 years old ~ the posts mentioning the cost of used cars makes me SO thankful we were able to get ours repaired and doubly thankful for an honest, reasonable mechanic!

Finished lesson plans yesterday ~ relatively stress free compared to previous years! Joy!

Praying for everyone's intentions!

May all your days to be kissed with grace, peace and joy!
Enjoy these final days of Summer!

Started school on Monday. Think I'll need to tweak a few things, but seems to be going well.

Dd was whacked by a branch and fell off her horse this morning on a trail ride. She hopped back on right away and was chasing chickens when she got back so I didn't think much of it, but then started complaining that her spine hurt. Soooo we spent the morning in the ER getting her checked out. Thankfully everything looks fine, probably just bruised and sore. Of course, now she is back to asking if she will be able to ride again tomorrow.

Really been enjoying the Olympics too. I am especially enjoying the enthusiasm of the young female swim team! So upbeat and encouraging!

Well swim team is over.. and we've had a couple of lazy days.. now onto some major cleaning/decluttering before we start school. PLUS we've been doing some reenacting/mountain man rendezvous and have another 1-3 coming up that we want to get some stuff ready for (sewing more costume pieces and such).

But for today.. we start the cleaning process.. swimming lessons for the ones too small for swim team end after this week so we still have to juggle around those in the late morning.. but this afternoon has no interuptions

It must be car week...we are in the process of putting new tires on one car (wow...Tire Rack delivered the new tires less than 24 hours after I ordered them!) and getting my son's old Dodge fixed so he can take it to college next week(!).

After a hectic final few days of July, today is calm! It feels weird not to be rushing to meet a deadline. (Of course, the calm will evaporate tomorrow... )

I wasn't here last week! We had a super busy time celebrating three family birthdays in a row! We always get so caked out! But this year we decided on a brownie/pudding dessert one day, cake another and cheesecake on dh's birthday. So we made it!

Temps are happily cool here in Alberta! Lots of rain storms which is unusual for us this time of year, so our kiddie pool isn't getting used as often as I'd like.

Just read In The Heart of My Home post: 40 Ways to Keep Summer from Slipping Away and was inspired to make my own list, I only came up with 24 things though!    It's very possible the snow will fly for us again this September so August seems like the end of summer for us. But I am determined to finish well.

We were talking cars this week, too! Groan! Our dd is going to need something for work/school this year, but I hate to spend much. I'm seriously thinking about leasing a car, but I've no idea how much that is or whether they would let an under 21-year-old drive it.

I have had such a pleasant and refreshing few days! JennGM came down for lunch yesterday with her sweet little boys and we just had a great time talking-talking-talking, lol! Whenever I talk to Jenn, I feel like I have to hurry up to get all the wonderful conversation in, but there is never quite enough time. I love to think that in Heaven there will be all eternity to enjoy the company of our Christian sisters and brothers! !

This morning, I went out for a hilly walk with an old friend and more chit-chat as we caught up on our children and families. She is a fellow homeschooler and just a dear, dear person. Now, however, my rear is sore from all those hills . AND I am about to go work out with my son (he's my personal trainer )! You'd think I was thin and fit, but NO! Not by a long shot! Working on it, though

Pouring rain/thunder here. Still decluttering my "school room" and working on plans for next year, which are ever so much more complicated than anything I have done in the past

Loved reading all about everyone's doings! Have a great Wednesday, ladies !

I declutered basement this morning (lots more waiting for me!,) but I did toss away two large garbage bags    of trash and filled two tote-type containers with books for my homeschool group's booksale, which is next week. This afternoon, I took youngest two boys out bowling.    Nothing too terribly exciting! I'll get out for my walk after the sun goes down.

We are headed to my in-laws to watch more Olympics this evening, since we don't have cable. Dh is supposed to bring Chick-Fil-A for everyone, but we might have to come up with Plan B since the lines have been so long there all day.

No car stuff here, thank goodness. Just laying low with some sick kiddos. I realized that this was the first time we've been sick all summer. Yay for that. Working on entering lesson plans, since I have no excuse. Oh, and taking dd (11) to tween knitting class at the library.

God bless,

Anita

Just got out of the pool with the kids! That always feels refreshing!

Let's see...since we last talked, I got my bridesmaid dress fitted and breathed a huge sigh of relief after the seamstress worked her magic taking it in a few sizes. I am starting to organize, iron, and gather all the clothes needed for our family to take for the wedding events which is NEXT WEEK!!!!!

School is going FANTASTIC! It's been relaxed and enjoyable with plenty of time for us to swim each day...as well as all the wedding planning stuff.

We had our first meeting with Father detailing information for beginning Confirmation preparation for my oldest son.

I'm meeting my Sister and Mom for lunch in a few days and then we're going shopping! Mom and I are hoping to buy several new "outfits" for her wedding/honeymoon trousseau! I'm really looking forward to doing that!

My oldest son is enjoying Apple Movie Camp! He's off filming his movie as we speak!

We are really enjoying the Olympics, and it won't surprise any of you that there's an app for that!

I only have a week and a half to go and then Q-U-I-E-T!!!!!!!!

Oh, yes, we are doing Chick-Fil-A for dinner as well, then heading to a local amusement park to meet up with a couple other homeschool families for the evening.

- of course there is...

Enjoying the Olympics here, too. SInce we won't be around this evening to watch, I cheated and checked out the results online this afternoon.

I am taking it easy, too easy, since there are a couple pressing things I need to get done for our local support group and for our enrichment program with starts again in Sept., but I am procrastinating - saying I'm recovering from the conference planning stress. Angie said I need to come clean and post it in the shout out cuz then it will get done...hmmmm....

We went to Chick-fil-A and it was jammed. The only people protesting were FOR Chick-fil-A. I think the TV crew was a bit disappointed.

Dh and ds are fixing my washing machine...I'm so blessed to have such handy menfolk. (This is a repair they've done before...I got the fix-your-washer book from the library, but they don't even need it!)

I'm working on a full-on reorganization of my school area and books. Right now it's ugly. I just got a used bookshelf that I need to clean up a bit. Dh doesn't really like it. I'm trying to make this the one stop place for all our schooling needs this year, including our reference books for nature study.

We'll see. Dh and older son will be going to Steelers training camp, and I will have some time to sort through.

ETA: I hit reply too soon. Yesterday my sons and I visited stellamaris (Caroline) at her house and had a WONDERFUL time. Time flew by. Can't get better than talking books, Charlotte Mason, Catholic faith and Mom stuff over lunch and coffee.

You would die over her book room. It's so fabulous!

After a very long and eventful journey we have finally arrived back home from 2 weeks in Sweden. 3 hours from home my father in law fell and injured himself during a break at a rest stop. We spent a couple of hours at a hospital    He is home with us now, but I have this feeling we will be dealing with doctors for the rest of the week.
A girlfriend from Florida will be coming to visit next week. Lots of preparations for her visit!

We are joining the "talking cars" club here too. Our car is only 8 years old and it is falling apart . Rust is a major problem and sanding and painting just won't cut it. I wish it would hold out just 1 more year...

Angie, this was such a nice idea... to have this weekly "chat".
