Talking about wardrobes, I thought it would be fun to keep track of our ongoing quest to find just the perfect item as we build a wardrobe. Post you happy finds here!
I'll start:
Yesterday I finally found the perfect red top for me. I've been looking for a true red spring/summer top. This top has a high scoop neck with a gathered detail and cute capped sleeves. It hangs loose down the front but isn't baggy AND it is long enough. I found it at Savers and all I need to do is fix a bit of elastic in the sleeve. YEA!
What have you found recently or tell us about your favorite item/s in your wardrobe.

Well I got a pretty pale blue *not turquoise/teal at all* top.. it's a knit, 3/4 sleeve with a slit at the neckline.. navy embroidery on the ends of the sleeves and around the neckline.. lightweight and drapey so while it's loose it hangs nicely not bulky. It goes great with denim but dressy enough to wear with my navy skirt for church.. it's longer than a regular tee and shorter than a tunic.
At the same time I got a pair of denim capri's with elastic waist. They're wonderful.. the elastic gives me some growing room for this pregnancy (I had intended to get the elastic so I could lose weight but.. it works both directions) but they're not baggy through the legs which is VERY nice.
Both from Kohl's online.. I watched sales and used online coupons.. I think the top was originally $50 and I spent under $20 and the capri's were around $12. They're in the laundry now or I'd tell you brand.

My very favorite find lately is this denim maternity skirt from the Gap. Believe me--I never spend money like that on clothing. I am a thrift store/garage sale kind of gal! But I got it for a steal a month or so ago (sale upon sale, plus a gift card), and now that I have it and love it, I definitely would have paid full price for it. So nice to have a below-the-knee jean skirt for when I'm pregnant! I told my husband that I'm thinking of ordering a smaller size for non-maternity wear. 
My other favorite find lately is my sewing machine.  I have lost a lot of weight over the last couple years, and I'm having to update both my regular and maternity wardrobes, which can get really pricey. Finally last week, I had a chance to sit down with my favorite maternity pieces that are now too large and alter them. All of the sudden, my old favorites are wearable again--and for free. Such a treat!

that's great Celeste.. I really need to find/make a pattern for my favorite style of maternity top. I don't like the tight ones. and the ones that are loose from the shoulder feel like I'm wearing a tent. I got one handme down that is a babydoll style with the raised waist and then the loose gathered tunic length bottom.. it looks nice with capri's for summer and it's loose and I feel pretty wearing it.. pregnant but not a blimp. And I can't find a style like that in maternity (or not) that the high waist is low enough to come under my bustline.

Major victory last month from Dh's closet. I was able to get him into all new pants and work shirts. Kohl's had a sale and I had a 30% off coupon, so he did very well in an hour's shopping.
That was a MAJOR VICTORY, as he had been wearing the same pants for 4 years and many of the same shirts for that long as well. He hates to shop, so I did the shirts and ties, and he did the pants.
I told him I'd try to look nice more often if he would promise to look professional

My husband had a victory this week, too. Some of his clothes were literally falling apart at the seam. He hates spending the money, but I think the clincher was when his very last pocket gave out. Not having pockets without holes drove him to shop, lol. I think his favorite find was a pair of gaberdine pants.

I try to always pray to St. anthony for help in finding clothes when I go shopping. Living in the country I can't just run to this store or that, I have to really make each shopping trip count. God has really answered his intercessions for me! I got a nice, flattering small wardrobe for my postpartum stage recently.  It really does make a person feel better to be dressed in clothes that are flattering, not meaning as the world dresses to attract, but to just look nice, not frumpy. It's an important thing to me to try and look nice for my husband, not to have the "bummin' around" look, reserved for dirty work in the house or garden. I was soooo grateful/excited to find all those nice clothes in one short hour long shopping trip at Goodwill, in between grocery stops, all for about $50!  Oh, and in the same trip I found a bunch of nice clothes for dd really cheap, too. She is getting so hard to keep in clothes. We usually find women's skirts fit the growing hips and taller frame better, requiring only a tuck at the hip, which can be done to look kinda like a pleat. And small or mediuum women's shirts(depending on the brand) are fitting her nicely, not too short at the waist or sleeves. Enough to make a person  !

Recently I shopped our overflow of clothing (which we've been meaning to weed out, but fortunately hadn't gotten to yet). I was able to alter a tent-style dress that was never very flattering, but has a pretty paisley pattern in colors that really suit my style. I cut the dress down to fashion a longer tunic top, with slits or vents at the sides for a more flattering fit when sitting or bending. It took just a little time to interface the side vents with fabric from the hem, then hem the entire top. It cost nothing but a little thread, which I already had on hand, and a bit of ingenuity. I'm definitely not a seamstress, but I'm finding simple alterations are not really all that complicated and they open up brand new possibilities with clothing that I would otherwise overlook!
I'm more inspired than ever to shop for clothing in thrift shops in a whole new way. One of my favorite summer tops is actually a short denim dress from a thrift shop, with nice deep pockets....one of those think-outside-the-box finds! It's great for skimming over spots I prefer to keep covered and durable enough to garden or do housework in. I really like the idea shared on the wardrobe thread about adding portions of a t-shirt to the neckline and bottom of a too short top.
On a similar note, I recently lengthened a pair of ds's dress pants by simply snipping the stitches from the cuffs and steaming the hems to remove creases. Dress pants with cuffs or dressses with deep hems are a real blessing with growing children!
