Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does your routine change in the summer as regards to devotional practices for you or your family?

I don't get into town as much, so I try to amp it up at home. We pray the Rosary daily, and focus on feast days when possible. We do have our morning prayers and daily Saint readings ala Jen's morning basket. I'm trying to incorporate the Angelus. A big learning curve for me.

During the summer, we do our family rosary later at night and/or on the road. I actually enjoy praying the rosary when the whole family is in the van. During the winter, we're more likely to be at home to pray our evening prayers.

Summer Ordinary Time tends to slow down feasting and festivities.

We increase our Catechetical instruction because we're inside more often, avoiding the heat! Summer is our cozy time to snuggle on the couch and read, watch movies, do memory work, and discuss all topics, including our faith.

Daily Mass and Adoration stay the same.

Love,

I focus on a few summer feast days. We always go to a Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival, and there are a few other favorite feast days we enjoy celebrating.

I'm also intensifying virtue and habit formation over the summer. There are some bad things creeping in that need to be redirected before we get into 2nd grade.

I'm taking advantage of the slow-down in the liturgical calendar (love those Weeks After Pentecost!) to do some directed study with my two oldest (3yo and 4yo) on the Mass. Summer seems like the perfect chunk of time to do a detailed study like this without needing to pause for the more festive seasons of the year. So we'll be working for the next couple months on sacred objects, vestments, parts of the church, chants, Order of the Mass, proper gestures, and all that fun stuff!

We also will continue our regular devotions in the morning and evenings, as well as daily Rosary.
