Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So all you experienced ladies, what books have you loved and why...which did you add to your library and which were not so helpful?

Thanks!

A few favorite reads:

Paula Polk Lillard's Montessori in the Classroom. It is such an easy read, and the information really does relate to the homeschool setting in that the author is brutally honest about the good and the bad and the ugly! I really love the realistic view - helps my expectations anyway.

The Montessori Method by Maria Montessori

The Absorbent Mind

The Essential Montessori: An Introduction...

Teaching Montessori in the Home: The Preschool Years Excellent book by Elizabeth Hainstock - lots of great diy ideas in here.

Teaching Montessori in the Home: The School Years

Here's a post on
Montessori Books

I like Barbara Curtis' Mommy, Teach Me! and Mommy, Teach Me to Read!

She's having a special on books right now, and blogs at Mommylife.net

Also, I second the rec. of Teaching Preschool in the Home by Elizabeth Hainstock.

I actually never finished The Absorbent Mind

Dr. Montessori's Own Handbook is great, too.

It does really depend on what you're looking for.

Written for parents, very informative with lots of pictures ...
Montessori Play and Learn, Lesley Britton
Montessori Read and Write, Lynne Lawrence

Comprehensive with detailed "presenations" ...
Basic Montessori, David Gettman

For the same reasons Jennifer mentioned ...
Montessori in the Classroom, Paula Polk Lillard

Simple, informative and easy to read ...
the books by Elizabeth Hainstock

Good luck!

books are helpful, but albums are essential!!

I have Karen Tyler's, plus MontessoriForEveryone's comprehensive lists.

(there's a lot of talk about these on other threads.)

Good luck!
