Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is the question - Every one of my labors was at night - is it more common to go into labor in the evening/night?

Most of mine were: #1 water broke at 12:30 AM she was born at 3:11 AM, #2 water broke at midnight and she was born at 7:14 AM, #3 cntx started around 11PM and she was born at 7:15 AM, #4 was earlier - like 7PM and she was born at 2:41 AM, #5 broke all the rules and I think I was in mild labor at 3 PM, the broke my water around 6:30 PM and he was born at 7:14 PM (or 7:13 or 7:15, I can't remember and it's driving me nuts ).

All 3 of mine started in the wee early hours of the morning.

1 - labor started at 3 am, birthed at 2 am the next morning
2 - labor started at 4 am, birthed at 5:30 am the same day
3 - labor started at 7 am, birthed at 7:45 am same day - planned unassisted home birth, which was a good thing since no one could have made it anywhere before she came.

I woke up in labor with my son on a Saturday morning. He was born at 8:46pm.

My water splashed in the evening when my daughter was coming, but I didn't really go into labor until the next morning when my water was broken by the dr at 9:15am. She was born at 10:21am.

Dd1 - labor started around 10pm and gave birth around noon time the next day

Dd2 - exact same thing

Dd3 - again, the exact same thing.

All of them were born 1-6dys after the due date.

I had an epidural with all 3.

Hmmmm..for me, yes.
Ds water broke about 8pm and contractions started a few hours later, he was born around 2pm next day.
Dd, water broke about 5 pm. Contractions started around 8pm and she was born somewhere around 2am. I am glad I didn't have to be up all night in labor. I was still up all night though.
Cool project, there is some interesting info here.

Our next door neighbor is a Labor & Delivery Nurse, he only works night shifts. He also is super busy at full moons, new moons and big low pressure storms, i.e. all the high tide times.

First was four weeks early exactly. He was smallish but had no preemie signs.

Second came on her due date. I was positive about conception dates on both of them.

Both times I went into labor at 2 or 3:00 in the morning. It is much more common to go into labor at night . . . something about some nightime hormone inducing labor or something. My brain is pretty fried right now.

Two out of my six were born 2 1/2 weeks early.
Three out of six were born 2 weeks early.
My third was born one day after the due date.

I was fairly sure of my due dates. I only had a night time labor with one of the six. Another labor started at 5 in the morning, but all the rest started during the day and were delivered during the day (on average about a four hour labor).

My midwife said that the majority of her clients give birth in the late evening or early morning hours. (i.e. dark) She thinks it is because everything is quiet and the mother feels more relaxed. Most of mine have been in the dark.

With my son I went into labor a day after my due date. With my daughter it was two days before the doctor calculated my due date, but date I had calculated as my due date!

Both were born in the morning.

All of my children have been born premature. I have contractions starting at 20 weeks or so. With all but the first, I was 3 cm dilated by 26 weeks. Bedrest and meds have been needed to keep them in as long as possible. Finally my membranes rupture.

DS #1 4 weeks early
DS #2 10 weeks early
DS #3 8 weeks early
DD    7 weeks early
DS #4 6 weeks early

Interestingly, other than the first child, they all weighed within ounces of eash other. So my drs theorize that my uterus can only handle so much weight. But since I was told that I could never have children, we are very happy with our "problems".

My "born in the morning" baby came at 10 minutes after midnight, with labor starting around 5 that evening.

The others were all born between 6pm and 10:30 pm, with labors starting when I was fully awake and active, anywhere from noon to 6. Five of the six came after their due dates, anywhere from 3 to 15 days. The youngest was born 2 days before her date, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We had no arrangements about where the other dc would go, because I was supposed to be induced on Friday morning. All of our plans were based on leaving the kids with friends after we all had had Thanksgiving dinner at their house.

Oh well, it worked out anyway.

Peace,
Nancy

My average has been two weeks early with all of them. (Thank goodness since a couple were nearly 10 lbs already.)

Though my last two were induced due to GBS, fast labors and the distance from the hospital.

I think my labors have been split pretty evenly between day and night.

All occuring at their own time - none induced. And I was sure of the dates.

#1 - 40 weeks, 3 days
#2 - 38 weeks, 5 days
#3 - 38 weeks, 2 days
#4 - 39 weeks, 6 days ( I thought he was going to be a week and a half earlier like the two previous - then he could have been a Millenium baby!)

Each of mine have been within about a day of my due date.
#1 at 6pm
#2 at 6am
#3 (hmmm, starts to get fuzzy here ) in the afternoon
#4 at midnight

No inductions, and fairly straight forward.
