Don't know if this is appropriate to post here, but I just saw that Sophia Institute Press just reprinted St. Patrick's Summer by Marigold Hunt. I'm just thrilled!

But while we're on St. Patrick, I would love to hear other suggestions on doing a unit/book study on this saint/Irish Saints/traditions. I know Tomie DePaola wrote Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland. Is that worth getting?

I think anything by de Paola is worth having.

Also,be sure to include Brigid's Cloak.

I have a few of her titles...she's also an illustrator. I grew up with them, so in turn bought copies for my child(ren). But St. Patrick's Summer was a memorable childhood book for me. I reread it several times and had some of my siblings read it, and they were hooked and bought copies for THEIR children.

Yes, it's a longer book, less illustrations, more text. I'd say 4th or 5th grade reading in traditional schooling terms.

My almost 2 yo is really enjoying DePaola. I was spending this am filling my cart with books by dePaola for his birthday (the 22nd).

Try Saint Ciaran which mentions Saint Patrick.

Also nice for Ireland The Blackbird's Nest and Ryan enjoyed One Belfast Boy. I don't have this one but it looks nice. Birgid's Cloak is a big favorite here and be sure to share the story of the apparition of Our Lady, Saint Joseph and Saint John at Knock in 1879.
