Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Planning, planning, planning for the upcoming triduum led me to find these eyeball cookies. Really easy and no-bake so perfect for us. They're pretty cool, but I think these 100% Edible Googly Eyes have all sorts of potential too!

Peter Reinhardt's Whole Grain Breads book has a recipe for traditional St. Lucy bread--a sweet bread in a swirly s shape that is supposed to look like a set of eyes. I'm sure a less healthy equivalent exists somewhere, too.

We're going to make savory eyes, deviled eggs with black olive for the pupil. We may fiddle with food coloring whites and yolks...

Love,

I love the way your mind works, Jenn! I've always wanted to make some sort of edible eyes for her feast. Thanks!

100% Edible Goggly Eyes
Here's a different link for the googly eyes since the evil mad scientist link isn't working right now.
