Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Wow! What a list! How will you be teaching from it? I love the idea of focusing on American saints etc. instead of just the secular heroes.

Well, we're sort of "flying by the seat of our pants" (now THAT's unusual ) ... but today we read about Jogues and Goupil, since they're the furthest back ... then we'll progress thru the saints list chronologically, finding what we can online and in books we have around here (like the Glory of America books that Ecce Homo publishes), maybe going to Emmitsburg for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, etc.

It's just a way to focus our November ... and it all feeds into (altho not exactly) our history and we can link back to these saints later this year (or next) when we get to the more modern saints. Clear as mud?

Interesting! Of course, it makes me want to be a fly on the wall in your school so I can see how to do it.
