Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

copies are you planning to buy?

We plan to go to CostCo right after our swim meet tomorrow and buy at least 2 copies.    I am going to read it. Ds9 is going to read it. And I decided to read it aloud to my other two. My dh told me I have to be done by Monday 4am so he can take it with him on his trip, but since I am also going to read it aloud we might need 3 .

I don't want to start any debate on the book, the series or anything else. Just a fun question to see if we are the only ones buying multiple copies

You're brave, to head to a bookstore! We'll probably buy only one copy unless our German friends want one...but since ds is at Boy Scout camp, I don't have to deal with the lines.

I was near a Borders in Columbia today and there were already dozens of people there...at 10:00 AM.

Not brave but cheap! I don't want to pay for shipping and in the past CostCo sold them at a discount. I had no problem getting book 6, but since this is the last book, I am a little worried. No way I would line up for a copy though.

We're just buying one (although our sons are still littles). Dh and I and the boys will be in line at midnight tonight at B&N. We've attended every midnight party since we've been married and always have a great time.

Oh Mary Chris, what a fun question!

We just get one copy - it will be arriving sometime tomorrow from Amazon. With shipping, I ended up paying $21.98. It is just easier for us (and kind of fun) to wait for "the package" to arrive!

I will read it first, and then my 12 yo. I would like to take my time with it seeing as it's the last, but I don't want to find out too much before I finish, kwim?

My husband likes to listen to the books on CD during his commute, but I can only imagine there will be quite some wait for them at the library!

I am so excited for the book and yet, sad too, that it's the last one. (Not to mention nervous about what might happen! )

You're such a fun mom, Mary Chris!

Our family is too little for HP yet, but it's fun to read this thread. The Catholic Information Center in DC sent out this email, which I think is just so great!!

This just in: The Mystery of Harry Potter: A Catholic Family Guide

Author Nancy Brown has done all the research and analysis of the Harry Potter series to answer parents' questions without spoiling the endings. Are the stories compatible with our Faith? What kind of role model is Harry? Could children learn spells from the books? How will you know when your child is ready? It's a must-read for every Catholic family!

Through July 31, the CIC will be offering The Mystery of Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling's latest book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows together for $32!
THIS IS A DISCOUNT OF OVER 40% OFF THE SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has a retail price of $34.99 alone.

To order, call the CIC Bookstore at 888-574-3339.

Looks like I will need to get 2 copies. The boys can fight over one here in Alaska while my dd reads the other in NC. I still have some catching up to do, so I can wait until they finish.

We have 2 on reserve.

I have done the Borders 'til midnight with the last 3 and will again. I am the disignated mom for a small horde of children.

The lines you saw this morning where to get wrist bands for your place in line. WooHoo we are in the first group!

Just one - but that is cuz I am cheap . I know dd18 and I will keep hiding in the bathroom with it.

My dh had his surgery yesterday, and is doing well.

But - and I know this sounds ridiculous - he was SURE he was going to be "good to go" by tonight, and I kept telling him he wasn't. Well, he isn't, of course, and now we can't go cuz I can't drive in the dark. . My copy - ordered MONTHS ago - will be sitting there at B&N tonite...wah....Our store is having real owls and snakes and face painting and potions and costume contests....wah, again....

I'm thinking maybe I'll try to pick up one used copy from the Beardsley warehouse in a few weeks.

We were just discussing this at dinner. I will buy one for the family. My dd18-is buying one--ds20 is buying one--ds14 is buying one. We are getting ours at Wal-mart-$18.95.

They do have rules though. My dd18 said that when she is at work, no one can read her book farther along than where she is in it.(does that make sense) I guess she doesn't want premature page turning.

They also don't want any news listened to until everyone if finished because they are worried about who is going to die. Of course, it goes without saying, you can't tell what happens if you are the first to finish.

I wish I could go to B&N and stand in line, I just know I would fall asleep. We are all so excited that tomorrow is the big day.
Ok Rachel, that will make it easier for us to buy 3 .
Dawn my dd is 166th on the list for the CD at the local library. We have all the other volumes on tape or CD so we will probably get this one eventually.
My dh and children have been teasing me for weeks about how neglected they will be while I shut myself in our room and read, read, read. Carter and I are planning an all night reading event for tomorrow night.

My father is going to Walmart early tomorrow morning before our golf tournament to get three copies - one for my sister, one for himself and one for me. We'll pay him back. I'm going to be dying to read it when I get home at night, but my b-i-l and his dc will be arriving from WA. Would it be rude to stay in my bedroom and read? It IS Harry Potter 7... he'll understand, right?

We were at Borders to get ours at midnight last night. Only one copy though . DD12 and I are sharing, DD8 doesn't read them yet, and DH isn't interested. So far I'm up to page 125 and she is on page 64.

Sam (ds18) and I were just discussing this. I think one should be enough but he thinks two wouldn't be bad. We also were envious of Kathryn's headstart, midnight being so much "earlier" in England! Also, we think the British cover is more interesting than ours. Check it out on Kathryn's blog!

I agree! I waited all day for my Amazon delivery only to realize at 9:30pm, it was sitting in my mailbox.

Oh, and I'm the only one in my family that reads them so I only bought one.

DH ran an errand yesterday and came home with the book. He has not stopped reading since yesterday afternoon.

None, but 15 yo ds has the tape set on reserve and we checked today and it was in transit to the hold shelf. Wow...someone finished it fast! He's still 46 in line for the book but there's got to be 30 copies in circulation. Of course we had to reserve 2 mos. ago.
