We left off here.
Longanimity...
Our licensing worker is no longer with our agency and in her departure our file was neglected. The last we knew the state did receive our file on Dec. 19 and on Dec. 31 we received word from them that it was not complete. It was missing 3 things and we still don't know what they are. Dave finally was able to contact the agency and demand an explanation which is the only reason we have what little information I have shared here. Tomorrow he wants to meet with them but is not sure if he will be received.
Words really can't express how much your prayers mean to me - to us. Please pray for all children in need, especially those who are state wards. Pray for their care providers and all involved in this cumbersome system, that their burdens are light. Pray for all families who are waiting. Thank you so very much!
Only God's will be done .
(Praying for your intentions although my time to type at the computer has been limited.)
Love,

Oh dear - praying for you in this disappointment.
I just do not get this - how hard it seems to work with this system. They are always saying how much we need foster families - the need it very great - and yet they seem to make it so difficult for families called to this. You think they would be bending over backwards to find homes and get everything in order.

Thanks, friend. This has been such a learning...still learning . You know that Dave and I are pretty experienced folks as far as government/public administration goes...yet...this is something else. For months and months I struggled with how senseless this all feels. You know me, if I see something broken I want to fix it . Yet somewhere along the way God tenderly let me know that this isn't about anything ever making sense or ever being fixed. This is about children, children who need our prayers and possibly a home and maybe even a family. As crazy-making as this has been, God has provided support for us every step of the way, through prayer as well as old and new friendships. I've met amazing foster moms and the children they care for and it all is such a privilege. God has helped me to let go of so much of my agenda (even agendas that I didn't know I had ) and really just learn over and over and over to trust in Him and not get too far ahead of ourselves. I have to laugh at myself...at how simple and obvious this all sounds and yet how incredibly hard it can be at times for me. Which gets me back to why I'm so grateful for your prayers!...and for listening .
Love,

I am praying with great fervor for you, Angie. I know how much every state needs loving, dedicated foster parents and I know that working with agencies and social workers is a very difficult and frustrating process.
Hang in there, dear sister. There are children (and their extended families) out there who need foster parents like you to bridge the gap until they can make things work out.
I've been reading Saints of North America this week and I am amazed at the trials some of our Catholic brothers and sisters survived...and I think you and Dave are surviving some great trials, too.
I will ask St. Joseph, who knows all about being a foster father, to pray for you both at this frustrating time, and to pray for all those who are working with your file and your family.

Oh, Angie...it does threaten to be disheartening doesn't it?
Still, because I know that God does not act randomly, I know He is working through this frustrating and wholly broken system. I know and trust that His timing is perfect in all things.
I entrust you and your family to Our Lord's Sacred Heart. I was thinking that Our Lady's concern, worry, and seeking when Our Lord was seemingly lost in the Temple could provide your heart refuge as you too seek after this child/children. May Our Lady make clear the path.

Oh, Angie, praying for you through such frustration. It reminds me of the process my brother had to go through to get his wife's children here from the Philippines--it was senseless and infuriating too. Be assured of much support here.

Angie, I know how hard this can be! These agencies never seem to move quickly when it comes to these children. I remember our own frustration when we adopted. I will continue to pray for you and your husband.

Thank you, all . Dave met with the manager of our agency's district office. Bad news...our file is still considered incomplete so our "60 day" count down won't begin until it is deemed complete by the state. Today our new worker will contact the state for clarification but it looks like at least one form, which should have been submitted at the beginning of our process by either of the 2 agencies we've worked with, hasn't been submitted (or it was lost) and this form can take weeks/months to complete because it depends on coordination between states (AZ and PA.) I've already let myself shed a few tears of frustration and exhaustion about this matter and am happy to report that my mood turn around time has been quick - for me:). It's strange but I must be developing the habit of how to deal quickly with bad news of this type. I know that your prayers are such a big help. More later...hopefully not too much later .
Only God's will be done!
Love,

Angie, what a journey of sacrifice and suffering. The good thing is we know that only good can come from that, the good we sometimes don't understand, or we see only way after the fact. I am sure there will be much good to come from all of this.
You are a tremendous example of longanimity to us all (it is my word for me too, so you are of particular example to me! ) I will be praying for you Angie and remembering you each day at Mass.

Oh thank you, Anne, for your prayers and reminder...
Yesterday when I searched here for "longanimity" I found Cay's recent topic, Inspirational Word List for 2009 which I had missed. I love her idea of becoming "word prayer buddies" and see that Sarah (Plainsong) and Carole N. (in Wales) are also longanimity buddies and have posted their prayers for me here! Thank you today, tomorrow, and over the long haul:).
Love,
