Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Something I want to find for my husband is an electric tea kettle, or something to heat his water at the office. Nothing fancy, just a quick water heater. My SIL has one and it's so perfect. Dh uses the tea kettle on the stove at home, but at work it's not an option, and prefers to not do the microwave method.

Since I know there are tea drinkers here (I'm not), can you pass a little help! I've struggled all day with the internet, trying to get orders online. I'm glad it's not shopping "out there" but still am frustrated and exhausted!

Jenn, I know Michele Q bought one not long ago, and I'm pretty sure she posted about it on her blog. You might want to take a look there?

Funny ... electric kettles are standard in any kitchen (or workplace) here, yet they seem to be few and far between in the US. One of my dearest friends is an American expat married to an Englishman. When she first came over here she put their new tea kettle on the stove to boil, not realising that it was an electric one. Oops! Her dh realised with horror what she had done when he smelled burnt rubber kettle feet . She has never quite lived it down

Jenn,

We are looking at getting one of these dispensing pot. This may be more than you are looking for. A few years ago I found a plug in tea kettle at Wal-Mart, it was very inexpensive.

I can't get the link to work when I preview the post. You can try searching zojirushi hot water dispenser.

BTW...Have you found a copy of Martha Stewart Holiday yet? I saw a big pile of them at the Barnes & Nobles in your area last Sat.

Oops, missed your post until after I responded. Must have been posting at the same time. Yes, I have a copy, thanks.

Jenn - you may have one already. But my most recent one is from Bed Bath and Beyond - a black Braun one about $40. I like it.

Kathryn - being in the UK you would find it amusing how hard it used to be to find an electric kettle in the US. And the cost is so high here too. I had one GBP 12 kettle which lasted me about 15 years in the UK. I paid $60 for my first one here (Melita) which only lasted 2 years. It is a joke with my husband how many kettles we have been through in our 11 years here - probably 5 or 6!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my tea kettle. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. In fact I have decided that it will be my standard wedding gift from now on.

Out of interest I just checked the website of one of the big stores here and they sell kettles for just over £5 (less than $10) - basic but adequate.
