Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Are the books Jotham's Journey and the other two anti-Catholic in any way? They seem to be written by protestants. Just wondering.

We have read Jotham's Journey and Bartholomew's Passage and there is nothing anti-Catholic in the story. Each daily reading has a little section at the end with things to think about. Some (most?) of these are fine, but others are a bit too Protestant for my taste. They can easily be left out.

The stories are at times quite violent (bandits, slave traders, Roman soldiers and so on) and could be scary for sensitive or younger children. That said, we've enjoyed them and will be reading Tabitha's Travels this year.

We have read all three now, and are ALL so sad there aren't any more.

Now I don't know what we'll do that can equal the magic of these books!

No, nothing anti-Catholic whatsoever. They're spectacular, and incredible, and we just LOVED them!

Yes, be careful about the ages. We just used these for Advent devotions the past three years, and my kids this year are 15yo, 13yo, and 10yo. So they were 12, 10, and 7 when we began them.

You'll love them! They were the best part of our Advent!

Tracy,

We read Jotham's Journey last year and are finishing Bartholomew's Passage this year... what is the title of the third? I definitely want to get it for next year.

After we finish the trilogy we will continue to repeat the cycle again. That way the littler ones will be able to enjoy the stories.

We absolutely LOVE the books so far. They are definitely a highlight in our Advent celebrations and my attentive listeners range in age from 10 years to 5 years. The 5yo is my ds and loves good vs. bad battles etc... the cliff hangers are what really get to him and he is usually the first the next night after dinner to bring the book to me to read . There is nothing anti-catholic that we have come across so far!!
