Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

~~~~waving hey to all reading and hope your week is going well. I'm curious how many of you are back to your routine? Close to your routine? Not even close?
I called this shout out "exhaustion" because I finally ran out of steam this past Sunday, which continue until this morning. Aiden, my 18 year old son told me that this past Monday is called "Blue Monday" because it's the most depressed day of the year. I'm not sure about that but I do know that I was T.I.R.E.D Last week I still had post Christmas happiness and energy. Not this week.
So....what do you do when you have "left it all on the field", given it your all? How do you recover? I shut it down. Sleep. Give myself quiet space. Refuel with light, healthy food. Talk with friends. Hydrate. The hardest part for me is to realize that I do need to stop. Usually, my body shuts down before my brain figures that out .
I did manage to curate content on my scoop.it pages so go ahead and check it out for news that is family-friendly.
That's it for now! Happy week all
Love,
Well, I actually, give myself permission to be lazy during the Christmas season. There were days that I accomplished very little but I did sit and read a "fun" book just because I wanted to read it.
But I have to be recovered and moving forward. Got a birthday today
And *I* did not put away Christmas. My 4 older kids did that. They're awsome.
But I did beat my head on the computer reconciling our bank statement today. It was an especially long one. And halfway through the THIRD time I finally found the mistake. I transposed .98 as .89
AND on top of that. Our bank was combining with a larger bank.. we were going to be dealing with new account numbers, cards, checks.. all that.. but we got the new terms of service Monday. Yesterday we went and got an account with a different bank.
So I am combing my account very thoroughly to be sure I know everything that hasn't gone through so that I can start using the new account and be ready to completely close the old before the change over.
And then I had to pay bills with the new account.. which means for online paying having to input all new account information.
But that's mainly done and now I'm about to get a special dinner going and wrap presents. We're going to do a "friend party" later. This is just the family day, get to pick dinner, and get your gifts from family.
I think Aiden's on to something. Monday was not a good day at our house.
But I know what I need to do when I'm physically and mentally exhausted...get as much sunshine (or, in winter, natural light) as possible, get a decent amount of sleep, read a good book (even if I don't have time) and pray for the intentions of others. I was able to cope with a fairly chaotic Tuesday, a phone call this morning that rearranged my entire schedule for today and tomorrow and a few other unexpected events and announcements...so I guess I'm managing.
For me, late December, before the solstice, is the most exhausting time; it's dark, and there's so much to do. Now, we're seeing more daylight - those minutes add up - and I always think of Easter when I realize that it's not dark at carpool time...even though it was, just three weeks ago. God is good.
Getting outside helps me the most. But I don't do cold so it is sometimes tricky. Sleeping more, exercise, doing something fun, etc.
My case is a little different because I'm still recovering, but I'm trying hard to work in small walks while to improve my energy and recovery.
My boys have been sick the last two weeks with bronchitis, ear infections, and sinus infections, so we're feeling a bit of cabin fever. Nerves are a bit on edge.
The decorations are put away. That was my big accomplishment from last week...I took it slow and steady.
Angie, be gentle to yourself, because wearing yourself out means you lower your immune system. This time of year is not good for that!
Cleaning! Sounds counter-intuitive when I am already exhausted, but there is nothing like a little extra tidiness to ease my overwhelmed feeling
