Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies,

I thought, awhile ago, we had a thread that included a pattern for a crocheted poncho. I've done a search of the entire boards and could not find it.

Does anyone have a good one to recommend? I have some beautiful magenta yarn and while I'd love to knit...don't really know how...so the next best thing would be crochet...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Maria,

There was a thread in the CatholicCMason list...I remember it because it was the first time I had heard of Lion Brand. Are you on that list? It seems the main suggestions were to go to the Lion Brand site for ideas and patterns.

Mary G. is the expert knitter on this list and might be able to steer you in a simple pattern of knitting. A poncho is a good thing to practice your knitting! (Which reminds me...I need to ask her some advice, too!)

All the rage right now is Martha Stewart's type poncho, which Lion Brand has a pattern.

Maria -- Lion Brand Yarns web-site would be your best bet for quick and easy ponchos (either crocheted or knitted). Also check Crochet About.com or Knitting About.com. These are great sources for free patterns that are pretty simple to do.

Thanks, Jenn and Mary...

I really like that Martha Stewart poncho and the candy apple color...

hmmmm...I may have to get some more yarn...this could be way too fun.

That's how I got started knitting when I was 8 -- and became a "designer" at 12....it was just too much fun

Is the Martha Stewart poncho really easy? I have not graduated from knitting scarves.
