Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am off tomorrow for a weekend silent retreat. The retreat master is a Franciscan of the Immaculate.   I have very high hopes of a prayerful retreat, but one little problem..........I am really frightened of leaving my dc for 3 days. We have had (as some know) a rather rough past 16mos. and I feel very protective and anxious about the "what ifs".
If you can spare an Ave, I know there are more pressing needs, I would be very grateful.

I always have an "ave" for you, dear! Know that you'll be in my prayers for the next few days ... I don't know, a SILENT retreat -- I couldn't do it!

Remember your "anti-fear" rosary . I'll be praying you there and back!

I just offered one up for you! I remember my first silent retreat I was so terrified. (it was the first I'd left my children too!) I know I would have left the first night had I not drove 3 other women. I even tried to devise a plan where I could leave and be back to pick them up and they may never know I was gone! (although it was 5 hours from home!) I will remember you in my prayers this weekend.

It's so hard to leave the children! On this last adoption, I felt I had to leave most of my children home for 5 days. It was soooooo painful.

I'll pray for you!You have had a very rough 16 months. Hopefully, the retreat will strengthen you for the next 16 months.

Praying for you - we'll be off for Mass in a little while.

You'll be in my prayers all weekend! And those precious children, too!

So much for the retreat.....here I am and I am not a happy camper!
Lets just say dh and job issues, this is what can happen in his line of employment and you are the boss.

Thanks for the prayers, I need them now for this
I "may" get to go tomorrow......we will see.

Oh, Molly, I'm so sorry.

Try to lean into the grace - and I'll pray for a reprieve and turn-around of your situation for tomorrow!

Well another interesting twist to my silent retreat.......I awoke at 5:00am with what appears to be a stomache bug!

Thank you Jesus and Mary that I am home and not at a retreat center right now. Now why can I not remember there is always reasons for seeming dissappointments in life?

Oh, dear. Perhaps it is for the best.   I can imagine your mixed feelings, or would that be how your stomach feels right now??

I'm glad all was made clear for you. I hate being away from home and feeling icky! Praying for a speedy recovery. It's been 2 days since your post though - maybe you're better already? I hope so. I guess Jesus had a different kind of retreat in mind for you.
