Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

my 18yodd has recently learned to knit. However, she says she only knows how to do the "knit stitch". She looked online to try and find a pattern for something, but said laughingly, "Well, it seems to be written in a foreign language."

Which she now refers to as Knittish.

Does anyone know of a place online that clearly explains all the knitting shorthand?

Thanks,

Laura,

Here's the Craft Yarn Council's site which has great how-to knit directions.

And this is the ultimate site, Yarn Standard's abbreviations for knitting -- all publishers and designers are SUPPOSED to use these for all directions.

If she has any questions, have her email me directly bhwh dot mary at gmail.com
