Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I do have a Christmas picture book by Father Gerald Brennan, too....

Do share!!!!! I'm a huge fan of Father Brennan thanks to you!

I'm in the middle of a big clean-up, and I shuffled the book somewhere this morning and I couldn't find it until now.

There are two books that I've found for Christmas:

When Jesus Came, 1956, pictures by George Pollard.

This is the story of the birth of Christ, broken down in little sections like Annunciation, Birth of Jesus, Shepherds, and Magi.

Father Brennan's Christmas Storybook.

I don't have this one yet, but from what I can see, this has assorted Christmas stories.

In looking this up, I found there was a whole series, called Christian Child's Stories printed by The Bruce Publishing Company, 1950s-1960. These are similar to "First Book for Little Catholics" series, although the style of the books is like the Wonder book series by Whitman, with the glossy wipeable outside. The paper is acidic, so yellows easily.

Here's the list of titles I could find:

Father Brennan's Tales for Tiny Tots
Father Brennan's Treasure Chest of Stories
Father Brennan's Christmas Storybook
Father Brennan's Tip Top Tales
When Jesus Came by Father Brennan

The Little Alphabet by Jessica Powers

The Little Swiss Guard by Mary Dick
Jesus Tells Me by Mary Dick

The Little Tree by Katherine Evans
The Little Juggler by Katherine Evans

Ludi, the Little St. Bernard by Norah Smaridge
Five Gifts from God by Norah Smaridge (I think Daughters of St. Paul republished this)

The Poor Little Rich Man by Sister M. Julita (on St. Francis)
The Little Flower of Jesus by Sister M. Julita S.S.N.D.

My Little Book of Thanks by Sister Maryanna
My Little Counting Book by Sister Maryanna
My Marybook by Sister Maryanna
My Little Book of Manners by Sister Maryanna

Little Joseph Son of David by Sister Mary Magdela
My Little Mass Book by S. M. Magdela

Our Family by Madeline Lilienthal
See You In School by Madeline Lilienthal

What Will I Be? By Alvin J. Schumacher
My Little Book of Feasts by Alvin Schumacher

Above the Blue by Mary Catherine Rose
Before Jesus Came by Sister M. Clara
God is Everywhere by Rae Oetting
The Story of Santa Claus by Julian J. Reiss
Jesus Shows Me the Way by George Mark Dennerle
Ben and the Green Corduroy Angel by April Oursler Armstrong
The Bong-Bong Princess by Sister M. Francis Assisi
Little Nellie of Holy God by Sister M. Dominic (republished by TAN)
A Child's Day by Maria M. Di Valentin

Could not find authors for these:
Sunday Best
My Jesus
The Littlest One

There is ONE copy in WorldCat. It is at American University - your neck of the woods...can you get WorldCat yet?

My Marybook by Sister Maryanna

Oh, I so wish I could find some of these. Found this pic on the Univerity of Dayton, Marian library site.

I am trying to see if I can find other covers. I wonder if I saw any of these as a kid - wondering if I'll recognize any...

God is Everywhere by Rae Oetting

I found My Little Book of Feasts in OpenLibrary, and you can "borrow" for free and read on Adobe Digital Editions. I just discovered this last night...it's really neat!

The Bong-Bong Princess by Sister M. Francis Assisi

Jesus Tells Me by Mary Dick

Ben and the Green Corduroy Angel

Nope. It's a crying shame.

Wow, these are beautiful! My kids saw me looking at them over my shoulder and were totally drawn to the covers. Unfortunately, they look very difficult to find, don't they? I think we can get world cat, but not sure if I want to do that with my current library habits.

So neat! Looks like you have the only "copy" checked out, though. :) I'll have to see if there's a way to get on a waiting list of some kind. That's hard to get used to about digital books and audio rental, from the library too. Its not unlimited, they might only have 1-2 "copies" of each item.

Thanks Jenn for sharing all these lovely titles with us all!
