Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's Roald Dahl's 90th Birthday!

and here's the Official Roald Dahl Website

Just happened to find it because ds-7 borrowed Charlie and the Glass Elevator yesterday and is having so much fun with it. We had read Chocolate Factory years ago, but now that he's reading on his own this is his first Roald Dahl book!

Haven't checked out the websites yet, but looks like there's some great stuff there. I know some people here consider Dahl's books twaddle, but then I know some others that love his books, so....

Thanks for this, Stef! Paul just discovered Dirty Beasts on the shelf, and is reading aloud in a most spectacular way... . I love Dahl, but his books are a bit edgy (Libby's words) and not the kind I would give to kids who are easily frightened, or likely to repeat what they hear without reservation .

Oh, but we have had fun comparing Dirty Beasts with Belloc's animal poems... both Dahl and Belloc have great fun with language, and are not at all twaddley.

We are going there (the museum, not the website ) with our local homeschooling group soon. It is only 30 minutes away, and I never knew it existed until earlier this year!

For anyone in the metro Detroit area, "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (the old one with Gene Wilder) is going to be on this weekend at the Old Redford Theatre.
Times are:
Friday, the 8th, organ prelude at 7:30, show at 8P.
Saturday, the 9th, organ prelude at 1:30, show at 2p,
and organ prelude at 7:30, show at 8p.
The Redford is on Lahser Rd., between 6 and 7 Mile Rds.

God Bless,
Stacy in MI
