Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm almost out the door, but I was wondering if someone could give me brand name and other such suggestions for drawing pencils for a beginner (mainly me). Not colored pencils, but regular ones? I'm looking for some pencisl to sketch nature or non-nature.

I'm buying music, but the it happens to be an art and music store combined, so I thought I'd treat myself....

Are you already gone? I shared some thoughts and links here. General has lots of sets at economical prices - we've always found them to be good quality. Just a basic set like this is good for beginners. Make sure what ever set you get has a layout or Ebony pencil. Soft leads are good for beginners (B not H markings on side). Other quality brands Faber-Castell, Derwent, and Sanford.

Thanks, Mary. I did leave, but I remembered in the back of mind some brand names. The store is a locally owned, non-chain, so I like to give business, even if it costs a bit more. And, there was a 20% sale on the art supplies, so even better. So I went with Faber Castell, Derwent on the pencils, and also got Derwent watercolor pencils to try. And for ds I got a pack of FC colored pencils with grips to try out. We'll see...it was just a little pick-me-up visit.
