Dayton, Ohio! We found out last Tuesday when the forums were still closed and I haven't had time to post until now. I'm very excited since much of my family still lives in Ohio, including a sister who hs her 4 dc in a small town just south of Dayton. We're hoping to buy some land where we can have a small farm in time. If dh learns to like it there (he fears the lack of sunshine, especially after 3 yrs in Belgium), we may retire from the AF in a few yrs and be able to put down some some roots for our family. Imagine that.
I'd love to hear from anyone in the Dayton area. Christine, I know I owe you a pm.
Our timeline is somewhat accelerated. I hope to fly over with most or all of the kids in mid-May for house-hunting. Jim will finish things here (packout and cleaning) and join us June 1st. In the meanwhile, we are hosting two families visiting separately for a total of five weeks; we'll travel to Lourdes, Avila, and Fatima for our last big trip; and I will make a quick pottery run to Poland. We never do things the easy way.
Yesterday I woke up with a feeling of panic and dread in the pit of my stomach. This usually leads to depression for me, not exactly the best state to be in when you have a lot to do. I would greatly appreciate any prayers you can offer for me. I'll definitely need them to make it through all that I have to do in the next 10 weeks.
I'm trying to spend very little time here during Lent (and no time blogging). I sure do miss you guys. Please know that you and your families and all of your intentions are in my prayers and heart every single day.

Maybe I could be a pit-stop on your way to Poland?
I am happy for you.

Diane,
How wonderful to know you will soon have a new home back in the states. Though I will admit, I'm sad you won't be returning to Virginia. I will be praying that all this transition time goes smoothly, especially for your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.

That is exciting Diane! I grew up in Dayton and while growing up there I lived in the Eastern part, then the Southern part and then the Northern part!. If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer what I can. I also know of a few Catholic homeschoolers that live in and around the area. One is actually in Xenia, which is a bit of a drive, but if you want I can try to get some contacts for you.

Diane, you are in my prayers during this big change for you and your family. I am a bit disappointed you will not be back her in Northern Virginia, but so happy you will be near family and many new friends.

Oh, I'm so jealous! We've been trying to get stationed at Wright-Patt for years!!! The Air Force is keeping us where we are (sorry fellow Washingtonians, but I really don't like it here) until dh retires in May 2009. Then we are FINALLY moving to Dayton!!
I'll be watching this thread for ideas on where to buy/build a house (we lived in Columbus before) and on the Catholic homeschool community. Something my current area is sorely lacking in a big way.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. The weight feels lifted a bit already. Y'all are the best, you know that, don't you?
If I can survive the next ten weeks , I really believe this move is going to be an answer to prayers for our family. To live near my wonderful extended family...to be able to afford some land...to be part of a community of Catholic hsers...wow. It's a funny thought though. I can't imagine too many people who would be very thrilled about moving from Brussels to Dayton. We really have appreciated the opportunity to live here and to travel throughout Europe...but I've never been a more patriotic American than I am now. I'm ready to come home.
Maria and Maria , I thought for sure we'd be headed back to VA. And I honestly wouldn't have minded at all---we had such amazing and beautiful friends there (like you!). VA was Elena's first choice, being the closest thing to a home that she's known. Thankfully, she's sanguine, and her disappointment is nothing that a horse can't cure. (She's been saving since she was 7, and that dream may finally come true.) You can be sure that we'll be back in VA whenever we can...I've got a sweet godson in Annandale who ensures an annual visit at the very least.
Becky, funny you should mention Xenia...we've been looking (online) in that area, since it will be halfway between my dh's and my bil's workplaces. I'd love to get in touch with your friends.
Stephanie, are you on the way to Poland?! We'll stop and pick you up---you can join us for the weekend. Everyone needs one more piece of pottery. I'll be so sad if I have to leave Europe without seeing you.
Christine, you are such a generous soul to offer your home. I do have six LOUD children, have you forgotten? Plus a sister in Hillsboro who hasn't seen those children for three yrs. But I do look forward to meeting you and your beautiful family very soon.
Molly, please let us know when you are coming and we will host a 4Real BBQ. People say that you are the sweetest woman ever.
Lisa, I'll see you in 2009 (if not sooner), and Rebecca, I'll see you in June!
Thanks again to all of you. This community is such an incredibly beautiful blessing.
