Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're putting together a last minute trip to Lake Tahoe. Dh has a day of work in Reno and we have free tickets - so off we go!

We're looking at Northstar, but are worried about crowds. Also looking at Homewood, but it may mean I don't get to ski - which is ok, but I miss it. Lastly we're looking at Granlibakken (skiing at Homewood also). I'm really hoping someone has some knowledge of this place.

ETA: Dh just spoke with his client who said Tahoe's expecting a warming trend and we might be better off at a higher elevation. That takes us back to our original plan of Heavenly. Any opinions on this one.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, I'm in Sac and my dh was a MAJOR skier some years back - Squaw Valley is his favorite - He likes Heavenly...Alpine Meadows - Sugarbowl - those are all good.

Dh said that Homewood is a small place, fwiw....

Hope that helps.....

We're actaully flying into Sacramento as opposed t o Reno- gotta go where the free tickets take us. I've skied most of my life and I am still far from being a MAJOR skier! Dh only started after we met, so he's still trying not to snow plow.
Thanks for the tips ladies. We really have to make a decision soon...and then just be happy with getting to go.

He's doing better than me. I've only skied once and I was a snowBALL!

Great visual, Maria

Suz, I actually completed my adolecent years living on top of a mountain in Tahoe..........in fact, my dh and I met when both of us were living across the street from Heavenly North.

I vote for Heavenly (though very expensive compared to some of the others).....and would vote for the North side (in NV) as opposed to the south (in CA) because I always enjoyed that side more. It was usually a little less crowded. There are actually two lodges on the north side. I preferred the one that was not called Stagecoach (can't remember the other one's name......Boulder???)

If Kirkwood is not too far for you, it usually stays open longer than the others........but it may be a bit of a drive. My friends enjoy Mt Rose, prob the closest to reno.......but it is lower elevation. I never cared for skiing at any of the smaller resorts........just ran out of interesting slopes...

If you only get ONE ski day, might as well experience Heavenly just once.

Enjoy and let us know how it goes!
