Most of you know that I am not Catholic but the new thread about where we got married and the link to the church got me to thinking about the church I grew up in. It was a beautiful Catholic church and I thought it would be fun to see where you all go to church. Catholic churches are the most beautiful churches I have seen. If your not comfortable sharing a link that is fine.
Our family attends Word of Life Outreach Center now.
Here is the website for the Catholic school I attended from 1st grade through 11th grade.
St. Mary's School
And here is a picture of St. Mary's Catholic Chruch It is a beautiful church. I love the stations of the cross there and Lent was always my favorite time of the year as we did the Stations of the Cross. I wish I could find a picture of the inside.

Theresa,
What a beautiful Church! I'll bet they had beautiful stations.
My parish....hmmm (that should be easy, but...)
1. Tecnically, my husband and I are parishioners at one parish (All Saints) and go there for daily Mass (he more than I).
2. But then on Sunday, we help his parents set up for Mass at the high school near our house for a brand new parish near us that is building a Church -- but we're not actually in their geographical boundaries. When the Church is built, it will be further away. Incidently, the pastor of this church (Holy Trinity) is a graduate of the same small Catholic college that my husband went to (and his priest brother too!)
3. Then...we also try to go to his brother's parish (Queen of Apostles) a couple of times a year. We're actually going there next Sunday for noon Mass, then Fr. is going to baptize his newest niece. YAY!
So here are the links for these. There's only a sketch of the All Saints exterior, a sketch of the new Church on Holy Trinity at the bottom of the Church. Queen of Apostles has the NICEST sanctuary, although an ugly exterior -- it's an hour away OR we would be there every Sunday! Check out the "Holy Hour" link at Queen of Apostles...it's very pretty.
All Saint's
Holy Trinity
Queen of Apostles
I'm sure none of them are as beautiful and old as St. Mary's in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota!!

And Katherine -- the beautiful ORIGINAL iconography in St. Basil's is stunning and inspiring (especially to think about all the love and time that went into making them!)

It really is. The iconographer is actually a parishioner.

Wow Kathleen. I didn't know about the Byzantine Catholic Church until you and I had pm'ed a few days ago. That was a lot of work.
I wish I could find a decent picture of the inside of St. Mary's. I have one of my sisters wedding but you can't see it well and they are kissing and I'm not sure she wants all of you seeing her kissing her hunny!

None of my three have steeples! (Unfortunately No. VA went through a very modern stage for a little while) So when we do the "Here's the Church, here's the steeple," I often wonder if my boys know what one is!!
Ooo.. thought of another parish that we also attend(but 3's enough!!)

We go to St. Veronica's. I know there are a few others on this board that go there as well. We are really pleased to be members of this parish.

Here is our itty bitty church
St Mary Mother of God
It is the only Catholic church in the county, very small, but very special to us! You cant see from the photo, but it has absolutely beautiful stained glass windows.

Very nice Cindy. I enjoyed the Liturgy page. Some of the things there you would think wouldn't need to have to be spelled out so clearly.
I had forgotten that you were to fast from food and drink 1 hour before receiving holy communion.

Cindy... I found this on the Liturgy page.
Communion in the hand: There is only one correct way to receive Communion in the hand. Place your dominant (or writing) hand underneath your other hand, with the palms facing up. Once the host has been placed in the palm of the hand on top, move your dominant hand out from underneath, take the host, and place it in your mouth.
I always did it the other way around. Putting my dominant hand on top and using the other hand to take the host. Hmmmm
Gosh this is like a walk down memory lane for me. A good walk.

My church does not have a website yet, as I am the one building it!
But here is where I used to go...
Cathedral
and here...St. Odilia
and here...St. Rose of Lima.
When you live in the Twin Cities, you have a lot of choices....

Katherine, your church is beautiful!!!
I have a friend who is Byzantine and I've gone to her church a few times. I'm always in awe of the icons and how they make you truly feel like the iconostasis is the gate separating Heaven and Earth!
My church's website is under repair but I did find a picture of the grotto located on the grounds. Scroll down and you will see a photo of the interior of the Basilica.

Paula, the Cathedral is beautiful. There is a big church that we pass by on our way to Children's hospital that I've always wanted to see. I am not sure if it is Catholic or not. Its very similar in color and there is the dome also. I believe it's off of 394 and 94.
