Howdy 4Realers! I haven't been on much but hope to get more active here now that we just settled into our first house, my older daughter turned 4, and I'm starting to plan for homeschooling more seriously.
Our home has a formal living and dining in the front, which I plan to make into a playroom and homeschool room. I'd love any advice on design and colors as I prepare the space over the coming months! I've got a few pictures of our house on my blog with the colors we've painted so far. I'm having so much fun!
I'm also so thankful to have bought the home from a great Catholic homeschooling family (friends of ours), so she left me 2 school tables and 4 chairs. My girls love it already!
Thanks for any advice!

Blair that is wonderful!
IMHO, I would keep the walls a lighter color. You don't want the wall color to interfere with any pictures, drawings, maps, etc that you might put up on the walls!

depends on the kids.. do they need some perking up to concentrate or do they need to calm down.. I would likely choose yellow for the first and green for the second.

oh and yellow is the color for helping memory.. if you write things on yellow paper you're supposed to be able to remember them better.

I painted each wall a different color. Yellow for the wall with the windows, green and blue for the walls with white IKEA bookshelves and red for the wall with the calendar and maps. It seems okay but I often wonder what it would be like with something more calm like the robin's egg blue mentioned in Pocket Full of Pinecones or the Waldorf peach watercolor look.

Thanks, ladies! I think I'll probably use a pale yellowy cream color that is already in our entryway and on the fireplace. And maybe I'll paint the playroom a muted blue so I can still have some color nearby :) I'm having a lot of fun with color since we've been renting for so many years!
