DD#3 had her cast removed after her second bone graft from her forearm, to 2 different spots on her hand.

DD#3-"..flaky skin and scars "

DD#2"At least you have scars, cool scars, any scar is a cool scar"

DD#3- Somehat heartened.

It is amazing how the kind words of a sister can lighten that spirits of a younger sister.   But without being Mom, this older sister was so much more effective than any encouraging words I could share.
I wonder if DD#3 will look at these scars as cool, signs of a personal story and active life, not ugly, thanks to her older sister.

You know that is so true. I see it in my own home when my sometimes slightly obnoxious 13 yo ds offers words of encouragement to his younger brother or sister. It really does work miracles.
