Has anyone seen it? I am thinking of taking the children to see it this week and was wondering if it was worth seeing. Any scary parts? Any stupid, boorish behavior? I really haven't heard much about it and would really appreciate any info.

Hi, Maddie,
we saw it yesterday afternoon.......
....it was sweet and lovely.
We took sixteen kids aged 2.5 to 42.5 
.....we all loved the sweetness of it.
I don't remember any stupid, boorish behavior....I think because there was not any.
Of course, Charlotte dies, but even that is handled gently.
The whole movie is gentleness.
Now, thanks to Cay, we will all go see Night at the Museum on Saturday......at least 18 of us!

Oh, thank you for your response, Chari! I was so hoping it would be sweet and gentle. Hollywood has a way of ruining the best of stories! I think we'll go see it tomorrow.
I haven't read the thread on Night at the Museum...I'll do that now. 
The avatar is one of the choices the forum offers. I picked it because it reminded me of Little Point Sable in Michigan where I grew up. I spent many a happy day by the shores of Lake Michigan!

OK...seems like a different movie from the review that Steve Graydanus gave it Chari ....see his review here . I think I like Chari's review better, but I have not seen it myself.

We all liked Charlotte's Web down here too - the children really liked Night at the Museum as well. (we have a few dinosaur lovers at our home )

Well, MacBeth, I mostly agree with Steve.....I DID think Julia was a bit bland.....I noticed that immediately.....and, I wondered to myself if Wilbur's voice would change, as he aged.......but for goodness sake, I just wanted to enjoy the movie  ...so, my review was not nit picky.....if Steve has to watch a movie with a notepad in his hand marking all of the neg/pos stuff......if would be hard to appreciate any movie!
I loved the lead sheep, he was annoyed by it. I thought the arachniphobic horse was hysterical...Steve was annoyed by it.....I guess it is all about perspective.
.....though, I also agree with him, that the cartoon movie is the best. All of the charachters in the cartoon movie are so REAL....funny concept, isn't it?
It WAS sweet...it was a SAFE family film......and, there are not too many of those out there.....which is why we go to the movies between zero and two times a year......and that only because LOTR came out
Anne, my kids are not that interested in dinosaurs....but, they LOVE living history, and a museum coming to life at night, well......you cannot get that much more alive! ....so, my kids are excited....esp because their new hero, teddy roosevelt is one of the stars!
Back to CW, my kids performed in CW children's theatre last spring and as minor roles in an adult version in the fall (see my Christmas newsletter thread) and noticed all of the missing or changed lines....and it DID "bug" them.....I am less critical than they are...but the 2yos and the 5yos were riveted to their seats, eyes on the big screen.
BOTTOM LINE: safe and sweet!

We saw it and enjoyed it. It had a lot less innuendo than most children's movies these days. I missed the music from the cartoon version, but it was nice. I didn't read Steve's review of the movie or screenit.com's. I usually only read screenit's as it has a low-down on foul language, immodesty, etc., but we risked it and went on opening day, without a screenit review. It was a hit with our children.

So glad to hear it, Chari and all...though I think my kids are a bit too big for the film, my niece (6) is just the right age, and my girls like to take her out for a day sometimes. This sounds like a plan!

I agreed with Steven Greydanus's review, but my kids enjoyed the movie, and it is certainly a sweet one that is safe for kids. I'm glad we went ... I'm just such a purist about that book ... I love it dearly, and I had hoped this would be "the definitive Charlotte movie" and it really wasn't, for me.

This is interesting to me. I haven't seen the movie. But my mom took all the girls except the baby to see Charlotte's Web yesterday. They all enjoyed it. One comment from some of the girls was that they thought it was very faithful to the book. I must admit that we haven't read the book in quite a few years here. But maybe it's all relative . . . and this movie followed the book more faithfully than other movies they've seen that have taken many more liberties with the original stories?
By the way, they really like the crows, which were an addition not found in the book!

We all went to see the movie on Friday. I think it is a very "safe" kids movie, but I will agree that it took a lot of liberties that I think were unneccessary. It left me wondering why any screenwriteer wouldn't use the perfectly crafted descriptions and dialogue from an expert like EB White.
The kids enjoyed it tremendously. They're all huge fans, as we've been listening to the book on CD (read by White himself, which is just incredible) for weeks now.
I understand that White wasn't completely thrilled with the cartoon version, but I do think that it was very faithful to the book, much more so than this current version. Still, it was enjoyable and inoffensive.

We finally went to see Charlotte's Web! It was very sweet and I loved the beautiful farm scenes. My children were shocked to hear Fern speak disrespectfully to her father, but overall it was a darling movie. Wilbur was SOOO cute. Half way through the movie, my husband leaned over and whispered to me, "You know the pigs we were planning to raise this spring? You can forget it now!"
