Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

my kids got a set of cobra walkie talkies for christmas, and after i opened the package, my 8yr old pointed out the warning on the packaging:
"warning: this product contains lead, a chemical known to the state of california to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. wash hands after handling"

are all walkie talkies made of lead? i know this is a popular gift this year. i'm waiting to hear back from cobra about this issue.

Sometimes battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead which is why the warning is probably associated with the walkie talkies. Any company that does business in California has to put these warnings in their product - This warning comes from Proposition 65 which has a llisting of over 700 chemicals that are known to cause cancer. I'm seeing the "California" warning on more and more things around here as well. More info on the warnings can be found here - there really is not spcifics about how much of something is present in the product to warrant the warning. Frankly it's confusing. Californians what is your take on this law and the warnings?

mary m, you are right, proposition 65 is the cause of the warning. they are placing this warning on all of their products, regardless of whether or not they contain lead, just so that they can sell in CA. in all cases, the lead would be in the power cord, not the device itself and the amount of lead meets federal safety standards.

guess what. it's not just walkie-talkies. the Christmas lights we got had the same warning.   never noticed that before. either they're using a different material or they never bothered with the warning before.
