Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have tried FlyLady and I do purge but I am tired of being the "keeper" of everyones stuff. Well, mostly the kids. Dh does OK. We don't seem able to schedule a pick up time, when we do pick up, everything seems to be work in progress. Those darn Lego's drive me nuts. I have been spending too much time on this lately but I am the only one who seems to care. I don't want to be mean and toss others' stuff and I am at a loss as to what to do to make my life easier...the Christmas presents are scaring me now...

Toss! I tossed all my kids things till we had a basket for leggo's a tub for stuffed animals, and a toy box, that is it, for all 3 and my life is so much easier! Plus now my kids, spend more time playing in there room and can all pick up after themselves.

We tossed last year!

I turned it into a lesson by explaining that there are other children who might not have as many toys, stuffed animals, books, etc. that my kids have. This motivated the kids to help me and we ended up with BOXES of perfectly good items that they didn't want anymore. We donated all of it to a local charity through our parrish.

Now when we are at the store my children will still ask for toys. But they will also comment on how much use another child will get out of it when they donate it!

You toss stuff, you organize stuff, you teach the kids to pick up. The children really do play better with fewer toys of better quality, than loads of cheap plastic. (Legos are among the ones to keep, painful as they are. )

But in the end, they really don't care about messes, they're kids. So you just keep working on it from all angles. You look at the toys at the end of the day and thank God you have kids to go with the mess!
