This year, I thought I was so smart having my Christmas card photos processed online at Kodak.com. I sent my order in weeks ago. The first shipment was apparently lost, putting me about ten days behind in sending the cards out. Kodak replaced it, and the cards arrived today. The print quality is horrible, and the photos are dark, not at all like the lovely preview I saw online. To make matters worse, they gave me white envelopes instead of the green I ordered, and the outside of the envelopes all say "Koday Easy Share Gallery." So now, even though I payed a *fortune* for the cards, our mailing has to be a Christmas advertisement for Kodak!

It is quite frustrating.

Frustrating yes, but no one will be interested in anything but those seven beautiful children in the photo. I can't wait to receive mine!

I'm so sorry Alice. If only the Kodak people knew how rarely (if ever) you need to vent!
For anyone still shopping, I do love Shutterfly.

Dear Alice,
You aren't behind at all.
I'm just now addressing my cards for mailout. I'll be lucky to finish addressing them by Christmas Eve cause I'm addressing birthday invitations as well.

It is frustrating though. You have my sympathy. It's hard to get what you pay for nowadays.

I got lazy and went to Wal-Mart and did ours on the computer there. The quality and price and everything is fine but I'm not happy with the picture itself. We did a quick pose when Oma showed up at the house and we were all dressed presentably enough for a photo (ie: everybody was home, girls' hair was brushed, no one was still in their pajamas ). The part of our picture that makes me wince as I stuff the envelopes is that we still hadn't found the treetop angel when we took the picture. (It was in the last Christmas bin, of course .) Matter of fact, the tree had just gone up the day before and it wasn't complete. Dd is blocking it mostly but the top is sticking up above her head. It's a sad looking tree.

All I can hope is that everyone thinks it's a bush sticking up behind us.

Let's not even mention the fact that our church is doing family portraits next month for the pictorial album. What timing!

This is the place for Christmas cards:
http://melissaclairedesigns.com/

Melissa is the sister of a dear friend and did my birth announcements for Emily.

I don't know if it is too late for this year, but keep her in mind for next.

And for what it's worth, anyone who has even thought about sending their Christmas cards is months ahead of me this year!!!

I so sorry, Alice. We all have to have our Advent humility. (Mine is the Charlie Brown tree the crew came home with.) I'm sure the cards are lovely anyway.

I must admit, I did read this to see what Alice (who NEVER complains) could possibly be venting about.

Are the cards standard size? Maybe you could go buy some cheapie cards at the discount store and just use the envelopes if the Kodak logo bothers you so much. I know I'd be bothered by it, too. I hate companies that try to force you to do advertising for them after you already bought their product.

Alice, could you put some lovely Christmas sticker over the Kodak ad on the envelope? I agree with everyone else...it's so rare to hear you complain! Try not to let this spoil your celebration of this blessed season! The evil one wants nothing more than to get us side-tracked with frustration or negativity during this holy time of year...take a deep breath, lift a prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe, and send out the less-than-perfect pictures of your more-than-lovely family! Everyone who knows and loves you could care less about the quality of the card, they just care about you and your family!

Me too. Alice, sorry to hear you're in this frustrating situation. I was going to suggest the sticker as well. If you haven't done so, I suggest including a link to your blog on Christmas correspondence. I try to send pics to people but there are just too many on our card list so I can't afford to send pics to all of them. So I print out a Christmas letter with 1-inch pics on them, but with a promise that if they visit our website or blog they'll be able to see the kids closeup!

Alice,

Can you put a lovely sticker over the ad?

I haven't even started with cards, don't feel bad.

Hope it turns out.

Alice

Did you go back and vent to them about the quality? I would after all you paid for it. Ask to speak to the manager!

Me too!

Alice, I have to agree: let Kodak know and remember no one else will be noticing anything but the picture (and they won't have the great online one to compare it to)

That is awful! But I am sure your family is all anyone would be worried about. Besure to call the company though and tell them you are dissapointed, they may not be able to fix these in time, but I am sure they can do something for your family in the future.

Can I just tell you how much I love this group?! I was feeling so disappointed when I opened those cards today, and it really is great to come back and see how much you all sympathize.

Molly, I just put in an email to MelissaClaire to see if there is any hope for us. Her cards are beautiful, and the religious sayings are exactly the type of thing I want.

It is difficult to get a hold of a person at Kodak, but I am trying to get a refund. (The print quality is *that* bad.)

I love the sticker idea and will use it if I wind up using these awful cards. Thank you Servant, Stef and Sarah!

LOL! I am deeply sensitive about photographs!!!
